Good morning, M, from the SW gate within the Oakland Airport ... all checked in, and waiting for flight ... flight to P is on time and will depart in about 1 hour. Airport feels less rigid security-wise ... perhaps Oakland-ites / Bay Areans have taken over alternative culture-wise.

Someone at this gate had a book called "The Reckoning" ... hopefully my financial reckonings will develop toward prosperity in the New Year.

At Xmas dinner, was glad when an old family friend (originally from England) said she would like to read and give a poem she had written to each of us at the dinner table. She did so and, in doing so, it created a kind of open space for reading poetry and further creativity. She's written many poems in Pittsburgh over the years,  is involved in at least 2 poetry writing groups, may be published, and is a very experienced writer. And she told how she wrote one of her poems with certain guidelines / constraints.

The poem she wrote, read to me, and then gave me, was entitled "Shipping Forecast." Thank you Christine Michaels!

Having just published my second book of poetry - https://amazon.com/author/scottmacleodworlduniversity - and never having read my poems in public, I was inspired to read 2 of my poems to this table of 5 friends, one written about Harbin Hot Springs, and with constraints in a mini-workshop in Harbin's Stonefront Lodge in 2013, and one poem inspired by my mother.

So I read, which I like in a variety of ways (and the constraints are above):

Green sea turtle: Light, Float, Sit

Light, Float, Sit

Light

lights

Harbin

harmony

in one, waters' warm,

immense, immersion, milieu d’eau.

Float

flies

in warm

watery

ease-me-in present,

a gift of flight in fluid d’eau

where freedom finds releasing in among hug nude friends.

Sit,

roots

around,

touch all cells,

water pool food

intimate naked yes exchange,

of mind body suit seamlessly freeing we who connect under stars, skies, ~ Harbin-wise.

. . .

Here are the constraints, which I just came across:
http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/12/iguana-email-to-cynefin-and-light-float.html -

*
I haven't yet published "Light Float Sit' in a book.

I then said I wanted to read a poem to my mother, who was at the table, and which closes my 1st book of poetry "Haiku-ish and Other Loving Hippy Poetry," and I read "Your mother's love":

Eastern Agricultural Complex: Your mother's love, over years of orbits, moonshines earth's trips around sun - so warmly

Your mother's love,
over years of orbits,
moonshines earth's trips
around sun ~ so warmly.

Was glad to have read these my poems, and felt like people around the table appreciated them.

Opening llfe-size art, sculpture and potentially robotics' worlds with Lego robotics

Appreciated the scaling of Lego to human size, appreciated too Lego in a museum as art exhibit, as well as the art itself (e.g. sometimes as few as ~5 Lego brick colors to represent a painting Rembrandt, or The Mona Lisa), and also the Lego culture this art further represents.

Was surprised there was no Lego robotics.

Visiting smart India friends

Meditation

Dear Mainak and Sati, Maitreya and Pin (Sid),

It was very nice to see you yesterday and today in Baltimore, Maryland. Here are photos from my visit to you in West Bengal in Kolkata and Mayapur 5 years ago -

https://twitter.com/HarbinBook/status/1079822037269573634 - which you might be interested in. Thank you again for your wonderful hospitality there in 2013-2014. There are also some links to Bengali language World University and School not yet in Bengali, India World University and School, and more on this Harbin book Twitter post as well.

Hi M,

Found an email I sent you August 11, 2017 which seems viola-relevant :

"Thank you, M, my viola!

Cello here. So both wings of WUaS might benefit with a scheduler or executive director, including my day job tutoring for WUaS's academic side ... is one inference I make from your thoughtful email and ideas - Especially re finding a partner. Thank you.

Susan emailed yesterday about some of this ... and what she wrote makes sense, knowing me ...

"I'm not sure how you can best find a partner/wife/etc. I think so much of meeting people is serendipitous, though you can't meet someone if you're not out running into people. I would aim for the "friend" level first - don't be looking for a mom-to-be, at least not overtly saying so, unless she is also looking for that! There is always adoption or fostering a child, too, or finding someone who already has little kids, and may or may not want more. I guess be open to the possibilities that love and relationships may take different paths for all of us."

...

Will re-read your email again soon ... Much day work ahead with WUaS .and book writing - violins' wise. Thanks for your email ..."

Are you a viola metaphorically and I perhaps a cello? How to find a violin of a friend / partner / wife / mom-to-be, I wonder?

L,

Scott

Hi M,

Here's the beginning World_University_Music_School - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Music_School - before WUaS connects these WUaS Miraheze MediaWiki wiki "front end" pages with our "back end" Wikidata / Wikibase structured knowledge database (Wiipedia's too) in ~ 300 languages.

And here's the Viola wiki subject - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Viola - to give you an idea of how a wiki page at WUaS is structured. Potentially there would be courses for matriculating online viola students in the A) top 1/3 of the page, paralleling MIT OCW (https://ocw.mit.edu), e.g. https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/music-and-theater-arts/ courses (and eventually both for credit, and simple open perusal) - and B) sections where people can teach to WUaS by adding, for example, a video of a specific instance of viola instruction, or a Youtube of a great viola performance which might also be instructional as well as inspiring, or an inspiring book, etc. and C) "Navigation."

And here, by the way, is the free downloadable Muse Score, the music composition software I mentioned - https://musescore.org/ ... Now how to add a PDF of a piece of Scottish Country Dance sheet music not in a key (or in the range for the chanter) of the Scottish small pipes (A Mixolydian) and then possibly even 'hack' MuseScore such that I could generate a good setting of said SCD sheet music playable on Scottish small pipes, and with The Open Band - https://twitter.com/TheOpenBand - brainstorming-wise? :)

You might be interested in this wiki page as it develops - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Assistive_Technologies - as well as possible online Ph.D. degrees planned, as WUaS begins to accredit first with the state of California. WUaS would like to code for every assistive technology 'under the sun' as we grow ... and potentially for speakers of all 7,097 living languages, as well.

Looking forward to communicating further about some of what we talked about on Christmas eve, and very nice to meet you as well!

Happy 2019 (and here's my Season's Greetings' letter plus blog - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/12/armeria-maritima-seasons-greetings-2018.html - also attached).

With very best wishes, Scott

Thanks, M,

https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1080557639086546944.

Happy 2019, and happy chamber music - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Chamber_Music (there are some great chamber music videos posted here already, albeit just a few) ! Could be creative to begin an online chamber music series by extraordinary musicians too ... and even somehow interactively in Google group video Hangouts, for example, with computer applications, for learners :)

Best regards, Scott

News and Agenda

World University and School

1 Thank you to contributors, editors and donors in 2018!

2 Collaboration?

WUaS is seeking to collaborate with Stanford for coding, and with its Law and Medical Schools (in ~200 countries' official languages), since MIT doesn't have these re CC-4 MIT OCW.

WUaS is seeking to collaborate with MIT further as well - especially in building out majors and departments, in addition to hiring graduate students seeking to become online faculty.

WUaS is seeking to collaborate with University of California Admissions (both UC Berkeley and all 10 UCs) for students applicants, as well. WUaS is seeking to matriculate ~500 online undergraduate students in the autumn of 2019 who are interested in and seeking to complete free-to-students' Bachelor degrees that are best STEM CC-4 OpenCourseWare centric.

3 WUaS is awaiting a pending National Science Foundation pending grant application.

4 Seeking too to get started with accreditation in mid-February with CA BPPE. Would be great to know what they might be interested in re

5 Developing WUaS Degrees and Majors

Course Catalog at World University & School - Courses for Credit

Our matriculated undergraduate class is continuing with course work toward free-to-students' online Bachelor degrees (at not yet accrediting WUaS).

6 existing majors:

BUS:

GENG:

Lego flying robotics
Kitchen table / Home robotics
Lego drone controller

for Programming - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Programming - Scratch 3.0 Programming language has been released on January 3rd which works with Lego Robotics

EECS:

Environmental science major - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Environmental_Science (NEW Environmental_Science wiki subject page at WUaS)

Graduate schools at WUaS

A) Law Degrees - WUaS seeks to head in this direction online, and in ~200 countries' official languages:

“Columbia Law School is recognized worldwide. I learned why in my first few weeks here: outstanding faculty, exceptional facilities, hundreds of courses, and a location in New York City!” —Andres Del Real ’17 LL.M.

B) Medical Degrees - WUaS seeks to offer online medical degrees, and in ~200 countries' official languages:

C) Ph.D. Degrees at World University and School -

Am curious in what ways this course - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html - could fit into a possible Society, Technology and Science major at WUaS and re https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/science-technology-and-society/ ...

*

Developing a 2 book MIT OCW independent study approach  (e.g.  - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/engineering-systems-division/esd-57-technology-based-business-transformation-fall-2007/ ) to a current course could easily apply to my "Naked Harbin Ethnography" and Boellstorff's "Coming of Age in Second Life" @ WUaS applied too to a realistic virtual earth and a realistic virtual Harbin for STEM ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy.

6 Wikidata and Information Technology

A)

Glad Lydia Pintscher, Wikidata Product Manager wrote recently, re Wikidata and Google Cloud:

Lydia Pintscher @nightrose

 Jan 3

Replying to @Tagishsimon @Wikimedia

"Yeah :/ I'll push more to see what can be done now. Another option I'm working on is making it easier to run your own query service on cloud services like Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services where you are not limited by the restrictions we have to put in place for the public one."

See, too:

B)

RE an UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME and WUaS: Glad too that Pavel Richter @pavel , former Executive Director, Wikimedia Deutschland e.V… wrote:

"wenn man das Bedingungslose Grundeinkommen irgendwie als sowas wie Rundfunkgebühren, nur nicht nur für Journalisten, sondern für alle, erklären würde.... Man hätte auf jeden Fall zwei Trends mit einem Tweet abgedeckt und bekäme Retweets ohne Ende #BGE #GEZ #zwangsbeitrag #Nahles"

(translation:

if the unconditional basic income somehow as something like license fees, only for journalists, but for all, would explain .... One would definitely have covered two trends with a tweet and get retweets without)

C)

Glad too Wikidata's Markus Krötzsch recently wrote in the Wikidata email list, re WUaS Ph.D.s too:

[Wikidata] Fully funded PhD positions at TU Dresden

"We are currently looking to fill two 100%-funded researcher positions in

the field of knowledge representation, AI, and data analysis. This might

be of interest to some of you, or to someone you know:"

D)

WUaS is still seeking to develop the WUaS SUBJECT TEMPLATE - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/SUBJECT_TEMPLATE - for usability combing WUaS Miraheze MediaWiki with Wikidata / Wikibase and in Wikipedia's ~300 languages. How best to communicate about this further?

7 WUaS Outreach - students' NtFs (Nontheist Friends / Quakers)

Outreach - and emerging from the Google Platform / Tensor Flow?

Finding matriculating students - in possibly communicating with the University of California admissions (or e.g. Ph.D students from Vassar / MIT communities, per your brother too), and coders re said Google Sites' platform with CA BPPE's accreditation agency / WASC senior?

8 WUaS is seeking to develop online educational opportunities in India / Bangladesh / Sri Lanka - all with similar time zones - early on.

Armeria maritima: Seasons’ Greetings 2018! from Scott MacLeod, with his book’s ‘Naked Harbin Ethnography’ bookmark, Stanford University, California * * * ‘Enter’ into this realistic virtual world here - http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg - where you can visit the Harbin gate virtually, and "walk" down the road "4 miles" to Middletown, CA, to "amble" around the streets there, if interested (accessible from: https://twitter.com/HarbinBook and http://bit.ly/HarbinBook) * * * Plans for the New Year: Seeking to help people realize their dreams at World Univ. & Sch. and with: “What are your educational goals and dreams? B

World University and School is also pleased to announce the publication of

Larry Viehland's "Gaseous Ion Mobility, Diffusion, and Reaction" (Springer 2018), which the WUaS Bookstore would eventually seek to carry:

C

WUaS Bookstore

WUaS would like to sell a PDF version with index of Scott MacLeod's actual / virtual Harbin ethnography accessible from WUaS Bookstore

WUaS will explore the possibility of a Adobe PDF reader which would allow the reading of this copyrighted book by the purchaser.

Scott MacLeod's "Naked Harbin Ethnography" (2016)

D

WUaS Bookstore in multiple languages emerging from Google Sites and TensorFlow, with academic press at WUaS for machine translation?

E

WUaS stores from TensorFlow into a stock price and listing on each of all ~200 countries' stock exchanges?

WUaS would seek to teach how this can be done too in the WUaS Law School in all ~200 countries' languages too.

From the Afterword:

Winding Road Rainbow:

Harbin, Wandering & the Poetry of Loving Bliss

From “Winding Road … and something like poetry came to me” (https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1064335267413159936) to “The Poetry Commune at Berkeley” (https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1064591154287534080)  “Winding Road Rainbow: Harbin, Wandering & the Poetry of Loving Bliss” (https://twitter.com/WUaSPress/status/1070737482130440192  and https://twitter.com/HarbinBook/status/1064711542367674368) revisits wonderfully the traveling to the Rainbow Gathering in US national parks, the visiting and soaking in Harbin Hot Springs, and the poetry of Canyon, California 94516, especially.

The poems "From Near Taos: Rainbow Gathering in New Mexico, Dipping in & out of Bliss, Blissware" (https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1064336117825032197) to "Bonobo Loving Bliss" (https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1064337217206644737) to "Rainbow is rebellious, like the 4th of July, against the powers that be, - so be hippies" (https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1064339465554935809) travel far, in their language, and where they go 'virtually,' - in completely new directions. Some are lyrical, while others go deeply into life at Rainbow Gatherings (in the western US) and Harbin Hot Springs (in northern California). Loving bliss neurophysiology and language are creatively explored in brand new ways - and, in conversation with the reader, to bring you to this "space."

The Poetry of Loving bliss is a completely new direction in poetry writing as well. What’s also unique about this volume of poetry is the addition of a blog link with every poem, where in these blog posts, you will also find photographs.

    Dear Profs. Benson and Majumdar,

Thanks for your far-reaching conversation yesterday on 'The Future of Energy' at Stanford - https://events.stanford.edu/events/818/81888/. And very nice to meet you in passing at the close of this. I asked about the possibility of developing a realistic virtual earth to address all of the questions you touched upon - and even as a kind of engine. Am thinking conceptually of Google Street View with TIME SLIDER, Maps, Earth with TensorFlow+.

https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/10/double-flowered-world-univ-schs-live.html  - about approaches to developing a realistic virtual earth as STEM field sites and classrooms for oil and geothermal, (but especially for future of energy questions) ... and with a new method I'm calling STEM ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy.

What I have in mind by an editable realistic virtual earth involves not only energy questions, but also my actual-virtual ethnographic field site (think Google Street View with Second Life / OpenSim / Sansar ):

For example, visit the Harbin gate here virtually - and "walk" down the road "4 miles" to Middletown, CA, and "amble" around the streets there (accessible from: https://twitter.com/HarbinBook and http://bit.ly/HarbinBook) ... the beginnings of a realistic virtual Harbin for soaking too :) Part of my actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic project, this realistic virtual Harbin - and EARTH - will get better and better with time.

Is there a way we might be able to focus some of these realistic virtual earth questions re Stanford ERE post-docs and graduate students interested in modeling and lithium ion battery developments, and perhaps Logan, too, Sally, who asked you yesterday about related machine learning questions right before I asked you about a realistic virtual earth. I've been a bit in touch about all of this with Anirudh Allam, Maartje Boon, David McColl and others in Stanford ERE.

Arun, did you happen to meet the Maz.....s in the DC / Baltimore area when you were in the Obama administration? (https://profiles.stanford.edu/arun-majumdar). Pin Mazumdar has long worked in the federal government, and is one of my best friends from high school in Pittsburgh, PA. His parents, Mainak and Sati, are also now living in Baltimore, and I visited and stayed with them in Kolkata about 5 years ago. I was glad to stay with Sid for 2 nights in Baltimore over New Years, as well.

Am developing startup online universities and schools - World University and School, which is like Wikipedia in ~300 languages with CC-4 MIT OCW in 5 languages - to address some of these questions as well. Here is where major online universities in each countries' main and official languages for free-to-students' online degrees - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States - will emerge.

Thanks again for your great 'Reflections on The Future of Energy,' and very nice to meet you.

    Best regards, Scott

Great talk by former Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi, yesterday at Stanford. Was glad to give Matteo Renzi too my World University and School business card, with planned MIT OCW-centric degrees in Italian written on the back, as well as my Harbin book "" card (since he had talked about the significance of workshops - bottega - in the Italian Renaissance to Italian creativity - e.g. Michelangelo and Da Vinci learned and taught in such workshops - bottega ). Roland, Damares, Danielle, Jordan, Eduardo, and Wonjun,

Thanks so much for your excellent Stanford Law CodeX presentations today, very nice to meet you, and sorry you had technical difficulties, Damares,

Let's stay in touch too about online CC-4 MIT OpenCourseWare-centric wiki World University and School Law Schools in all ~200 countries' official and main languages (hopefully emerging out Stanford Law, since MIT doesn't have a law school from which to generate CC-4 OCW).

Danielle and I were talking afterward about courses for law students toward law degrees - with which a global firm like BakerMacKenzie might be interested in hiring in the countries' where its geo-located - e.g. in The Netherlands (in Dutch), Canada, Australia, Germany (in German), Ireland, the USA etc. re her presentation on future law and machine learning law 4-6 years ahead - "legal innovation strategy focuses on the use of client-centered design methods to completely re-imagine services, as well as strategic investment in technology."  She suggested a course like "Design Thinking" (in multiple languages re WUaS), and perhaps Stanford Law CodeX itself could be developed further as a course in multiple languages.

Jordan, re transactions and payments and my single cryptocurrency question post-Euro, World Univ & Sch is also seeking to explore coding legally and CS-wise for a single cryptocurrency with blockchain ledger backed by ~200 countries' central banks, in each of ~200 countries' official languages, if possible. WUaS is paying attention to MIT Digital Currency initiative's Director Neha Narula in these regards - and is a little in communication with the former Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi (who spoke at Stanford recently) about this too - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/01/kadupul-flower-dutchmans-pipe-cactus.html . You'll find here MIT DCI's Neha Narula talking on a panel in the last hour or so of recent day-long MIT Blockchain with Robotic Systems' conference - some about cryptocurrency with blockchain questions .... https://youtu.be/OcSYWWuO6rU (accessible from https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/01/browne-grandiceps-stanford-future-of.html).

You'll also find below some of the beginning WUaS law schools, not yet connected with Wikidata / Wikibase which is Wikipedia's structured knowledge database in ~300 languages.

Glad World University and School will likely begin to accredit with the state of California's Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education in February for free-to-students' online Bachelor, Ph.D., law, and M.D. as well as I.B. high school degrees, first in English and then planned in ~200 countries' languages. Online accrediting law degrees will hopefully out of from California first as well in these regards.

(Here too is part of the email I just sent to Stanford student Wongjun, who's interested in studying for a law degree in Korea, for further info about how WUaS works:

    "Please check out ...
    Best regards, Scott")

Let's explore something like this in Brazil in Portuguese as well, Damares & Eduardo - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Brazil and https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Portuguese_language.

Thanks again, Roland, Damares, Danielle, Jordan, Eduardo, and Wonjun, for your great CodeX talks today.

    Best regards,

    Dear Liz,

Thanks so much for your rigorous experimentalism and your great studies and research which you presented today at Stanford: "Stanford Colloquium, Elizabeth Gunderson, Temple University - The development of mathematical cognition and motivation" ... https://events.stanford.edu/events/815/81539/ .

In keeping in touch, I'm curious, conceptually, how we might explore focusing your experimentation and studies in a digital environment, and even inter-lingually and in some of all ~200 countries' main languages (for example, in Google group video Hangouts), and possibly to add parallel sample sizes in some or many or these in other languages / cultural discourses / milieus. I ask this in the context of developing CC-4 MIT OpenCourseWare-centric World University and School in all ~200 countries' languages, (and indeed in all 7,097 living languages, eventually, as wiki schools for open teaching and learning+) - with an experimentation - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Experimentationhttps://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Research - research focus, around MIT OCW in its 5 languages. Check out the MIT OCW on these pages to get an idea of how WUaS is structured, where these courses will eventually be for online credit for free-to-students' online degrees (Bachelor, Ph.D., Law and M.D. as well as I.B. in all ~200 countries' official languages +). So part of my question, is how, conceptually, might your research scale and possibly with machine learning, such as by developing experimental approaches from your studies thus far further with the assistance of Google's TensorFlow, and multi-lingually.

In addition, re my question about mental transformation and learning vis-a-vis number lines and learning ("that mental transformation skill is a specific predictor of growth in number line estimation skill, over and above other spatial skills" and with the images you showed), and the possibility of incorporating something like Tan Le's brainwave headset, which you'll find here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2013/01/flower-coral-brainfingers-hands-free.html - (and of there are many of these), I wonder how we might, conceptually, simply add such a brain wave headset into your studies, but also how the neuroscience of these processes could further examined experimentally and in conversation with your studies.

See, too - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Brain_and_Cognitive_Sciences and https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Neurobiology - which will develop as we add these "front end" wiki subject pages to Wikidata / Wikibase as a "back end" (and which is Wikipedia's "back end" too in its ~300 languages).

As a third question, how wonder how a kind of "relaxation response" (meditation in Asian countries? ... per Herbert Benson MD's 1972 book of this name) as a response to anxiety (math anxiety too) could be measured and factored into your studies, conceptually, with brain wave headsets, and in a digital environment, in ways that it might not be in physical on-the-ground classrooms.

(I noticed too that your colleague Liesje Spaepen was a key author in a 2018 paper - "Meaning before order: Cardinal principle knowledge predicts improvement in understanding the successor principle and exact ordering" - with you https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=Vm9ZbxoAAAAJ - which could add a multiple language approach conceptually to your studies since she's multi-lingual (https://www.linkedin.com/in/elizabet-liesje-spaepen-15b451a7/) . Might we even explore inviting her into this budding conversation as well? There's a lot of innovative and creative scientific potential in such relatively new approaches to online research - and, conceptually too, and especially re multi-lingual MIT OCW-centric World University and School.

(Incidentally, I lived in Hamden / New Haven, CT, growing up, and in Cambridge, MA, before that too; my father was on the medical faculty at Yale, and was doing his residency in Boston).

Very nice to meet and talk with you afterward, Liz, albeit briefly, and thanks so much for your fascinating and excellent talk. Looking forward to staying in touch (and re the above "brainstorming" as well). Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Scott

Dear Mailis, (and Michael and Kristo, an Estonian Ph.D. graduate student at Stanford - https://history.stanford.edu/people/kristo-nurmis),

Thanks so much for your fascinating and comprehensive 'cultural' overview of education in Estonia today, Mailis - https://events.stanford.edu/events/814/81485/. And congratulations on coming in first too in European education re CES, - and ahead of Finland!

How might we best explore further developing a CC-4 MIT OCW-centric Estonia World University and School - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Estonia - in the Estonian language - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Estonian_language - around the MIT OpenCourseWare's ~2500 courses in English (https://ocw.mit.edu/), which are Creative Commons' 4 licensed (allowing for A) sharing, B) adapting, including translating, but C) non-commercially)?

Perhaps in the process, we can also build in basic scientific research into learning processes in the Estonian language (which World Univ & Sch, planning to be in each of all ~7097 living languages is interested in studying linguistically for a variety of reasons).

Estonians would get MIT for free-to-students' degrees, and it would be a very creative opportunity for Estonian educators to develop this as well. World Univ & Sch seeks to become the Stanford / Harvard d/ MIT / Oxbridge of the Internet in each of all ~200 countries' official / main languages.

    Thank you.

Are unconditional cash payments to individuals the proper response to collective problems at the societal level?" - https://basicincome.stanford.edu/events/basic-income-illusions-lucas-stanczyk-and-debra-satz-0 - am appreciative of your focus on labor organization, and your observations with regard to Denmark, especially. I was also appreciative of the economic analysis you brought to bear, Lucas - the first I'd heard in such UBI conversations. In asking afterward how long you might see an UBI of something like $1300/month extending into the future, Lucas, and your saying "forever," (far longer than Harvard is ~382 years old) I wonder if a time delimited UBI for the rich in the USA - e.g. 1 or 3 or 5 years? - might re-write your economic analysis significantly, thus making the idea potentially much more palatable to economists and US governments, for example. How long might you envision an UBI lasting, if it weren't for forever, and could there be a differentiation in length of possible times for rich and poor, and country by nation state, in all ~200 countries, which the poor would get it indefinitely?

And thanks for bringing up Denmark re Europe, Debra, as a model, and to help place your USA UBI considerations in perspective. As I mentioned when we chatted, beyond Denmark, I wonder whether the EU, and the Euro as well - all 19 out of 28 states that are now using the Euro after around 20 years - might be a way to address questions of a kind of related unconditional cash payments, or a way to focus some of the questions you were both addressing in terms of even both trade unions / strategy and unconditional cash payments / social good / 'what we owe each other,' and with an existing solidarity of countries with relatively generous social programs, - and by way of a comparison with those in the US. (And I wonder if the Euro could be an item or specific example of a kind of solidarity, newly construed, between nation states and re collective action and coordinated and coordination issues among disenfranchised groups there already? Juliana?)

In terms of strategy and vision re conceiving of implementing an UBI, and in developing CC-4 MIT OCW-centric World University and School planned in each of ~200 countries' main languages as major online universities (offering free-to-students' online Bachelor, Ph.D., Law, M.D. degrees and I.B. high school diplomas), and in 7,097 living languages as wiki schools for open teaching and learning, WUaS is in a position at this early stage to plan for coding for matriculated students / Universitians / end users in each of all 7,097 living languages, and may seek to plan for all 7.5 billion people on the planet, as a conceptual starting place for facilitating an Universal Basic Income, and potentially in conjunction with an emerging single cryptocurrency with block chain ledger backed by ~200 countries' central banks. An UBI might thus be a way to distribute a single cryptocurrency with blockchain, post dollar and post Euro and post other nation states' currencies, if and as this emerges. (Have blogged about UBI here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/12/magnolia-champaca-potentially-create.html - and - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search?q=Universal+Basic+Income - and see, too, the "economics" and "finance" labels in this blog).

    In this vision -

7.5 billion people in 7,097 living languages would be coded for in You_at_World_University - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University - and in each of all ~200 countries - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States (per a recent Olympics), and could potentially receive an UBI which would even be taxable, thus helping to set up revenue and democratic governance infrastructure potentially in the poorest countries, so that  countries would benefit from an UBI, and could grow their own social programs concurrently. This could emerge information technologically in conjunction with the introduction of a single cryptocurrency with block chain ledger backed by all ~200 countries' central banks. (The Euro's introduction 20 years ago is a precedent, but it isn't a so-called 'smart currency' with potential rewards to countries as well as investors, digital miners etc.).

You'll find here MIT Digital Currency Initiative's Director Neha Narula talking on a panel in the last hour or so of this recent day-long MIT Blockchain with Robotic Systems' conference - some about cryptocurrency with blockchain questions .... https://youtu.be/OcSYWWuO6rU (accessible from https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/01/browne-grandiceps-stanford-future-of.html) ... and saying that no current cryptocurrency can scale larger than 1 billion people at this stage, but people are working on this question. And an estimated 4 billion people don't have physical addresses per an MIT tweet here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/12/greater-coucal-4-billion-people-in.html - but perhaps we can offer these 4 billion people new addresses in a realistic virtual earth (am thinking Google Street View with time slider / Maps / Earth with Avatar Bots for each of all 7.5 billion people).

Per your talk, I wonder to what degree the EU's 19 countries' solidarity (and re Denmark example) around the EU with their trade unions and their financial markets, etc. might also be a great starting place for a further UBI experiment building on top of their existing egalitarian-minded social programs, and if, and as, a single cryptocurrency is introduced. WUaS would seek to facilitate this in a variety of ways (potentially emerging out of Stanford Law, since MIT doesn't have a law school (or a medical school)- and I'm in contact with Stanford Law about this) - as well as computer science-wise, etc.

World University and School itself also seeks to create an enormous number of academic jobs/careers in all 7,097 living languages and in major universities in all 200 countries, as well as with an educational services' wing with bookstores / computer stores / robotics stores in 200 countries' languages, (potentially as big as Walmart, one of the largest employers in the world at around 2.2 million people), so while WUaS supports you vision and thinking about a UBI, it isn't seeing an UBI as replacing the opportunities in and creativity of work either.

Lucas, how would you approach a related UBI financial analysis in each of all ~200 countries' languages, and both "forever" as well as with finite UBI time horizons? Debra? Juliana?

Thank you again for your far-reaching presentation, and looking forward to further communication about all of this with time. And it was nice to meet you as well.

    Best regards, Scott
