Forsythia: Cuttyhunk one room school house teacher offering to help with her students and WUaS long range planning

Morning Scott,

It was good to see you again.  Long-range planning is a particularly interesting topic to me - we'll see where it leads for Cuttyhunk.

I look forward to hearing and learning more about your work with World University and School.  I did some brief browsing on the school's website and am intrigued by the possibilities that exist with the project and even how (at some point), younger students like my two, could participate.  For example, Gw is very interested in engineering and Ca, technology.  For Technology, I was able to utilize Code.org for free (once completed, there is little else organized in such a manner), but appropriate materials for engineering at the level I needed, was challenging to find.

If I can be of any help in this project, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Safe travels on your return trip home.

All my best,
M

Thanks so much for your email, Michelle, and what a nice surprise to receive it.

It will be great to stay in touch as WUaS develops in a variety of ways (and perhaps you would all enjoy wiki-developing it). On WUaS's degree side, we seek to offer free CC online accrediting I.B., undergraduate (BS/BA), Ph.D., law and M.D. degrees, first in English. On our wiki side in English, perhaps Gwen, Carter and you can help find the greatest online resources for open learning and teaching. Here in beginning form is the beginning "Educational Software" wiki subject - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Educational_Software - (before WUaS moves from the Wikia wiki to a wiki in Wikidata) and this is particularly an area where you might find most enjoyable and best learning software. (WUaS seeks to add open, free, best and most enjoyable computing and learning resources).

If Carter and Gwen had access to an interactive great online high school from Cuttyhunk offering I.B. or similar high school diplomas (accredited in Massachusetts), do you think they would be interested? Or perhaps they might even be interested in the Stanford Online High School, a kind of model with which WUaS seeks to come into conversation - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2016/02/masai-lion-how-might-disabled-wuas.html. In addition to these two videos on the SOHS, outgoing Stanford President John Hennessy's video talk here is really great as well. (I post much to my blog about WUaS under the "global university" label). Perhaps I can mention some of this to Le and Du as well if I see them today.

Hi to Ca and Gw. :)

All the best,
Scott

Hi D (and P and M),

Thanks for your great Cuttyhunk Long Range Planning endeavors, Dix.

I added a new "Education" category to the Cuttyhunk skills' spread sheet going around on paper at the Fishing Club yesterday evening (what a nice get together and community dinner!), plus some information about World University and School. Were you able to read my handwriting?

And shall we talk with Michelle, the school teacher, about possibly further organizing the wiki WUaS Skills subjects - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Subjects#Skills - from a Cuttyhunk perspective (as WUaS moves from the Wikia Wiki to a wiki in Wikidata imminently). I bet lots of Cuttyhunkers would be able to wiki-add great open free resources from the web specialized in areas they are interested in. There's also a "Sailing" wiki subject at CC WUaS - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Sailing - with a few CC MIT OCW courses, for example. And the open teaching and learning potential at WUaS is enormous. Cuttyhunkers could begin to teach to their web cameras in a variety of ways, especially with good long range planning for this :)

Cheers,
Scott
