I've watched / heard a number of Don's talks here recently, and see his thinking as emerging from the 1960s - and HIPPIE THINKING - and Stanford forward to the present ...

Navigating what I'll call California chaotic alternative/countercultural challenges of what might have emerged emotionally in the context of Stanford out of the 1960s - and with his Lutheran religious beliefs -  in his career as a Stanford Computer Science professor is also interesting to think about further.
