Hi Sandy and M,

Just received 10 copies of my new book "Haiku~ish: and Other Loving Hippy Harbin Poetry" in the mail this morning.

They look nice - are slim volumes of poetry! Green blue covers, not spiral bound with white cover like the 1st printing of 11, - I'll put one in the mail to you, Sandy, as a belated Xmas present.

I like this wee book a lot. :)

Greetings from Monterey (for a second Friday in a row), where I just heard marine biologist Kelly Benoit-Bird speak - http://events.stanford.edu/events/742/74237/ and https://twitter.com/HopkinsMarine/status/955503031897923585 (which I reposted here - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch?lang=en) - who's also a MacArthur Genius grant recipient, and having gone to Brown University, has actually visited Cuttyhunk Island, MA.

Mentioned my MIT Media Lab faculty application to Prof. Benoit-Bird, which I haven't heard back about yet, and Joi Ito's interest in Scuba and oceans, - and asked Kelly in the Q&A about my ongoing interest in developing a realistic virtual earth (and at the cellular and atomic levels) re her field sites, and even facial recognition of the beaked whales she studies, - and I think this was a good 2.25 hour drive each way networking trip. She's a technologist and an ecologist. As a prof at Oregon State, she has a freedom and a blank check to be an ocean researcher per her CV - http://people.oregonstate.edu/~benoitbk/cv.pdf. Seeking this. Also mentioned to her afterward how the idea for a realistic virtual earth emerges out of the making of a realistic virtual Harbin for actual virtual comparison.

Back to UC Berkeley for a Tourism Studies' talk at 5. May give my 4th Harbin talk there in late February.

L,
Scott

(Also sent Joi the very 1st "Haiku~ish" book in the second printing).
