Hi Amir,
Very nice to have dinner together. FB isn't always the best way to communicate, but I hope this will appear on Ahmed's page:
"Hi Amir (Amir H. Gohar), I just tried to post this to Ahmed Ouf's FB page (before he friended me), but it was marked as spam:
Hello Ahmed! (Ahmed Ouf) I just had dinner with Amir H. Gohar last night after the TSWG at UC Berkeley, and he suggested inquiring with you if we could possibly please find one graduate student in architecture at Cairo University, fluent in Arabic and English, and if s/he could begin to teach an online course in Arabic at Egypt World University and School -https://wiki. worlduniversityandschool.org/ wiki/Egypt (worlduniversityands chool.org) by translating a course from CC-4 MIT MIT OpenCourseWare possibly - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/ architecture/4-614-religious- architecture-and-islamic- cultures-fall-2002/ - or something from here https://ocw.mit.edu/ courses/architecture/? Thank you, and nice to meet you! Cheers, Scott MacLeod"
Just broached the idea with Cedric to create realistic virtual UNESCO World Heritage Sites plus:
"First, I'm curious if we might talk and collaborate further even in making realistic virtual field sites together: Honghe Hani Terraced Fields and villages and Harbin Hot Springs. (Think Google Street View with TIME SLIDER / Maps / Earth / Brain and in all 7,099 living languages, and at the cellular and atomic levels too, and group-build-able in MineCraft for Lego-use / SL / OpenSimulator, so both cartoon-esque and realistic).
Second, I'm curious if we might do this with ALL UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which I've also studied. "
For your information, I'm attaching (not here) some related Tourism Studies, UNESCO WHS and internet/virtual reality papers I've written re TSWG.
A)
a tourism chapter I wrote re the Internet, online UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Middle East, and Said's Orientalism -
MacLeod, Scott Gordon K. 2006.
"Digital Spatial Representations: New Communication Processes and 'Middle Eastern' UNESCO World Heritage Sites Online" in 'Tourism in the Middle East: Continuity, Change and Transformation.' Edited by Rami Farouk Daher, University of Jordan. Tourism and Cultural Change Series, #9, edited by Mike Robinson of Sheffield Hallam University, England, and Dr. Alison Phipps of Glasgow University. Channel View Publications. ISBN: 1845410505.
- for your interest. I suggest that the German "Schaetze der Welt" (Treasures of the World - Heritage of Humanity is a documentary series of German public service broadcasters) inscribe a kind of Orientalism in their representations of specific online Middle Eastern World Heritage Sites. It's in the "Tourism in the Middle East" book below.
B)
Physical and Online St. Kilda: A Comparison of 'Senses of Place’
by Scott GK Macleod (2004) ... M.Sc. dissertation at the University of Edinburgh from 2004 ... http://scottmacleod.com/Ma cLeod%20Physical%20and%20Onlin e%20St%20Kilda%20A%20%20Compar ison%20of%20Senses%20of% 20Place%20MSc%20Dissertation% 20University%20of%20Edinburgh. pdf.

And lastly, here's the paper I mentioned writing in Nelson's course, which theorizes Tourism Studies in new ways -
https://www.academia.edu/15259 682/Gazing_at_the_Box_Tourism_ in_the_Context_of_the_Internet _and_Globalization_Internetity _ - with a focus on the Internet.
I'm seeking to create an interactive realistic virtual earth/Harbin Hot Springs for STEM researchers in all living languages for a new STEM and social science method I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graph y - https://scott-macleod.blogsp ot.com/search/label/ethno- wiki-virtual-world-graphy.
You can visit the Harbin Gate here ~ http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg - in Google Street View and "walk" down the road 4 miles to Middletown, and "amble" around the streets there. Check out the early time slider too.
If I get the MIT Media Lab faculty position, maybe we can see what might emerge with a Directors' Fellow position - http://directorsfellows. media.mit.edu/ - there re https://ced.berkeley.edu/ced/ faculty-staff/amir-gohar-phd .
Shall we explore a realistic virtual field sites in Egypt together? (I'm planning to give a TSWG talk on February 23rd as well). Great to share dinner together too!
Cheers, Scott

Hi Cedric (Wang Zhe),
Thanks for your fascinating and edifying TSWG talk - "TOURISM AND LIVELIHOODS IN CHINA'S CULTURAL HERITAGE: A Case of Honghe Hani Terraced Fields" ... http://campaign.r20. constantcontact.com/render?m= 1103050552852&ca=fbebd5ce- 168e-4e26-a4a5-53070b2b4cff .

China World University and School - https://wiki. worlduniversityandschool.org/ wiki/China (see too http://worlduniversity.wikia. com/wiki/China_Law_School_at_ WUaS) - in both Chinese (since CC-4 MIT OCW is already in Chinese) and English+ will likely head in directions such as - https://twitter.com/MIT/ status/962356767979077634 .
Lots of creative academic potential at WUAS, but no monies yet whatsoever.

Dear Nelson, and Kathy,
Thank you for giving me the book "Indigenous Tourism Movements" which you and Alexis edited. I enjoyed reading you epilogue (e.g. interesting syndrome, and universities) in this new 2018 book. Perhaps receiving and readiing it will open avenues, if I get the Media Lab faculty position, to engaging further all indigenous peoples (in all 7,099 living languages even:) and online in media. As an award of sorts, I added this in a new "AWARDS" category to my CV calling it "Nelson H.H. Graburn Book Award" - https://docs.google.com/ document/d/1y4vXG- QoGZkMWqK6Y5WbuNqdDihPyUVqMAgp 2HS6hpU/edit?usp=sharing ( accessible here - http://scottmacleod.com/pape rs.htm). I appreciate too the alternative tourism definitions to Dean's implicit in your epilogue, Nelson, and inherent in indigenous tourism.
Thanks too, Kathy, for our conversation about another follow up inquiry by me to the MIT Media Lab (to directors' Joi Ito and Hiroshi Ishii), and what I took to be your suggestion to wait a bit longer before following up again - which makes sense to me at this point. (Kathy, I've been following Nelson - https://twitter.com/ NelsonGraburn - for a while on Twitter, Kathy, from here - https://twitter.com/ WorldUnivAndSch - and more recently from here - https://twitter.com/ TheOpenBand).
Thank you,
Scott

P.S.
The Copenhagen Wheel looks interesting - http://senseable.mit.edu/cop enhagenwheel/ - especially when it can get me home over hills effortlessly to Canyon from Berkeley, for example.
