Dear Rich,
Greetings from the SF Bay Area.
I'm writing to find out how you are, and to inquire about a possibility.
I'm curious about the possibility of World Univ & Sch exploring collaborating with with Harvard Medical School to create online medical schools with online teaching hospitals. I'll call you soon to talk further about this.
Please give my love to Lucy.
Warm regards,
Scott

Hi Rich,
I just called and left a brief message. (I haven't heard back about a MIT Media Lab faculty position yet, which I applied for by December 1, 2017). I'm curious to talk a bit about these NEJM - New England Journal of Medicine - online learning modules - for CME or Continuing Medical Education - (which you'll find links to here - https://scott-macleod. blogspot.com/2018/03/fynbos- stanford-grand-rounds.html - and here - https://scott-macleod. blogspot.com/2018/03/caracal- stanford-medicine-and-online. html - and here - https:// worlduniversityandschool. blogspot.com/2018/03/march-10- 2018-agenda-for-wuas-open.html ) and Harvard Medical School, and the potential for creating online medical schools in many languages, defining medicine in new ways, and potentially creating a very large number of new medical doctor MD, and medicine, careers, too. World University and School's monthly business meeting is beginning soon. Looking forward to talking later. Warm greetings to Lucy.
Warmly,
Scotty

Dear Rich,
It was very nice to talk with you on Sunday evening.
Here's the blog post I mentioned from Jan 3, 2018 with information about the FDA approved gene therapy breakthrough - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/01/gene-therapy-for-rare-form-of-blindness.html. (I don't see yet a reference to Jean Bennett as discoverer, but will keep looking). And here's a blog post with further information about Project Baseline from a Stanford talk last year - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/11/mesic-habitat-stanford-surfacing-human.html (but last week's Project Baseline video here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/03/caracal-stanford-medicine-and-online.html - is no longer available). Do you happen to know Jessica Mega MD, who is Project Baseline's/Google/Verily's Chief Medical Officer, and who lived in Boston as well?
I'm curious how online teaching hospitals in all countries' official languages, at the cell/gene and atomic levels, will emerge out of something, conceptually, like Project Baseline in completely new ways for medicine and clinical care with bio-engineering. I may follow up re the NEJM online learning modules with the Harvard MDs, including your internist, with whom I corresponded last year (I think) as well. Thank you.
Hoping to "land" the MIT Media Lab faculty position (and explore this a bit further here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/03/skates-and-rays-robot-on-surfboard-how.html - in my blog post today).
Warmly,
Scotty

Atomic data into Google's Project Baseline, conceptually, could come from mapping the brain with electron microscopy, for example - extended eventually to a smartphone as a data generative tool, like a microscope (some years' ahead).
Beyond any genetic information acquired in the Project Baseline 10,000 person study, genetic data, from individuals - eventually the whole body mind - similarly could come from a smartphone reading specific genetic information, and then extrapolating from this with machine learning, which would be verifiable though subsequent physical samples.
Therapeutic interventions could eventually emerge also from the smartphone emitting signals that re-arrange atoms and genes as building blocks, observable in a realistic virtual earth with species and individual humans and organisms (think Google Street View with TIME SLIDER, Maps, Earth, Brain).
*
And mapping the brain at the atomic level with electronic microscopy could lead to understanding aging, and especially longevity questions, in very new ways (in a Google Brain / Street View with time slider environment?).
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Longevity
What happens in the brain across species at the atomic level with electronic microscopy with calorie restriction which extends life across species by 10-15%?

Excited to give the opening keynote tomorrow at the NIH Geroscience meeting, "Imaging: Innovations to Enhance Aging Research." Eager to think about how our group at MIT can invent new approaches to address aging and aging-related diseases.

How too could we go from 140 diseases (of Project ECHO) out of a possible 130,000 (per Google) on a smartphone, choosing the most common diagnoses in each of all ~200 countries' official languages, differentially, and focus on improving outcomes for these.
Could a hospital in a smartphone actually knit a broken bone in some decades?
Hospital in smart phone? (with developing online medical schools planned in ~200 countries' official languages - think Projects Baseline plus ECHO) https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/03/comfrey-hospital-in-smartphone-emerging.html How will Grand Rounds work? Someone in Africa shows a real time smartphone image of a rash remotely to MDs w machine learning?
