Terwilliger Hot Springs: World University and School Law Schools, Law Schools in Brazil in Portuguese and in Indonesia in Indonesian? ... Seems like Bobby C Lee could be a great contact in China re Stanford coding networks and even for a kind of MIT Digital Currency Initiative / Google-centric online cryptocurrency with block chain initiative (if one particular cryptocurrency emerges - I'd put my money on Bitcoin as brand, with ~200 countries' federal banks' backing), and even in planning for an Universal Basic Income for 7.5 billion people (where the Chinese government, as a nation state would help with the Chinese 1.4 billion people in this project - and as a way to spread a cryptocurrency universally, ie what comes after the dollar or the Euro, etc.) ...

Thanks, Roland, and All,

The Stanford Law School "Privacy Law in Brazil Matters" talk - https://law.stanford.edu/event/lst-lunch-event/ - was fascinating, with a photo here:

I just emailed you, Larissa and John about this (below), and will likely blog about this soon too - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/.

Best,
Scott

Dear Larissa, Roland and John,

Thanks, Larissa, for your fascinating Stanford Law School "Privacy Law in Brazil Matters" talk - https://law.stanford.edu/event/lst-lunch-event/ - with a photo here:
How to develop Brazil internet privacy law in relation to the other ~200 countries? I asked this in your talk relative to the your above slide on how Brazil creates law.

In developing CC-4 wiki MIT OpenCourseWare-centric World University and School, WUaS seeks to create major online universities in all ~200 countries - e.g. Brazil World University and School ... https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Brazil - in their official/main languages i.e. https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Portuguese_language (and eventually in Portuguese). WUaS seeks to offer online, free-to-students CC-4 MIT OCW-centric Bachelor, Ph.D., Law, M.D. and I.B. high school degrees - again in Portuguese.

For example, here's the Brazil Law School at WUaS - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Brazil_Law_School_at_WUaS (also not yet in Portuguese) - but MIT doesn't have a law school (or a medical school), so I'm curious about the possibility of creating OpenCourseWare out of Stanford Law (and Stanford Medicine) similar to Creative Commons 4 licensed MIT OCW in 5 languages with undergraduate and graduate courses. And MIT OCW - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/ - was in Portuguese until recently - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/portuguese/ - and which is now accessible in archive.org - https://web.archive.org/web/20170805220327/https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/portuguese/ .

And WUaS would like to teach in our Brazil Law School at WUaS how privacy law is created - relative to how law is created in the other ~200 countries' official languages - and under one WUaS Law Schools'"umbrella."

Would it be possible, Roland, to talk to the Brazilian / Portuguese language Stanford Law students, who were there, about this?

I was sitting next to John Engelen (email above) in your talk, who's from Indonesia, and a friend, and it could be fascinating to explore something here in tandem - in Portuguese and Indonesian, and in Brazil and Indonesia, too. Courses and degrees are planned in group video and online.

How best to explore these questions further, Larissa? Thanks again for your fascinating talk, and nice to talk with you afterward as well.

Thank you.

Best, Scott

Hi Roland,

Thanks again for your Feb 9th email here.

I registered this morning for this event with SLS Alum Larissa Galimberti on "Privacy Law in Brazil" today at 12:45 - https://law.stanford.edu/event/lst-lunch-event/ - but couldn't find the event when I came over to SLS. It didn't appear to be in 180 or 190 or upstairs either. (Are there two room 180s I wonder now, afterward?). I also appear to be no longer on the Stanford Law CodeX email list (but perhaps there are no meetings this quarter).

I'm writing to follow up on your Feb 9 '18 email and invitation to "chat after one of our upcoming CodeX meetings?"
(I'm glad to say that WUaS successfully filed both the Statement of Information for A) SI-100 for non-profit 501 c 3 World University and School, and for the newly forked B) SI-550 for the for profit general-stock WUaS Corporation, both of which are planned in all ~200 countries and their official/official languages, the first A) as major online CC-4 MIT OpenCourseWare-centric universities/high schools, and the second B) as educational services companies, - and indeed in all 7097 living languages as both A) wiki schools for open teaching and learning, and B) academic markets. WUaS got the PDF "receipts" for this these filings yesterday, Monday, April 30, 2018.

I was glad too to meet and talk with former Stanford President Emeritus Gerhard Casper at a Stanford Historical Society meeting recently, and to exchange some emails with him re World University and School too - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/04/alps-2-faculty-senates-for-america.html . Although World University and School is STEM-centric and secular, WUaS also is also Quaker / Friends' informed in its beginnings which could relate to the "tithes" word that Professor Gerhard Casper uses here, for example. Do you happen to know each other?

Since I'm not coming to CodeX meetings any more, is there another time we might chat?

Thank you.
Best,

Scott

Richard, (and Bobby),

Excellent talk on marketing bitcoin in China, and its target audiences (I'd say), yesterday by Bobby Lee - "What's Next for Blockchain in China?" http://events.stanford.edu/events/774/77403/.

Curious how translation into various Chinese languages might help the talk further on the Web.

Seems like Bobby C Lee could be a great contact in China re Stanford coding networks and even for a kind of MIT Digital Currency Initiative / Google-centric online cryptocurrency with block chain initiative (if one particular cryptocurrency emerges - I'd put my money on Bitcoin as brand, with ~200 countries' federal banks' backing), and even in planning for an Universal Basic Income for 7.5 billion people (where the Chinese government, as a nation state would help with the Chinese 1.4 billion people in this project - and as a way to spread a cryptocurrency universally, ie what comes after the dollar or the Euro, etc.).

Seems like the Stanford Law China Guiding Cases' Project (with about only 87 Supreme court rulings so far, last time I checked, where Stanford Law CGCP translates them into English and advises the Beijing Supreme Court in Chinese, as I understand the project) ... Would be interesting to bring the Stanford Law CGCP into such a conversation too about the above possibilities.

WUaS hopes to facilitate translation as well as have law schools in each of all ~200 countries' official languages - and to write much of the code here.

Thank you,
Scott

The talk on May 1, 2018 was actually not my cup of tea at all, but excellent possibly in marketing to Chinese from Stanford, but needing translation.
