Hi M,
Very nice to talk the other night with you from the ranch, and glad Annie touched base with you on the same call.
Departed from the Wisdom Creek ranch tree farm in eastern Oregon (https://www.lagrandeobserver.com/business/4101232-151/oregon-tree-farm-system-gives-wisdom-creek-ranch) at 8:17am yesterday, have been thru Idaho, returned into Oregon, then through Nevada, then California, through Tahoe and the Sierra, ((and across the Pacific Crest Trail at Donner Pass - very near where I think I stopped hiking the PCT in 1980 to hitch up to Oregon to hike through half of that state then - wonderful trip. Took some pictures at the PCT with memories flooding back ... I love the high Sierras too)) , Made good time. Arrived in Canyon just before 10 pm - very long day, with nearly 15 hours in car - slept well. ('Maint Reqrd ' light came on in my '05 Prius near Idaho steadily, a worry, but should get turned off next oil change, and car worked well generally - so I'm glad I got the 25k factory maintenance and other repairs done at a Toyota Dealer 2 weeks ago).
Saw a guy from behind in Idaho at a rest stop with long gray hair, and psychedelic pants, as I circled the rest stop building, and it startled me a bit. Makes me think getting a hair cut before heading to Cuttyhunk could make sense ... and re WUaS as well. New perception - don't want to startle people possibly with long hair for example. On the other hand, long hair could be beneficial for branding WUaS even - John Legere, MIT grad, and T-Mobile CEO USA has long hair, and may even dye it - and it works for him, and is not 'startlng,' I think. Observations while traveling ...
Traveling was fun ... as was seeing ANNIE, who seems well. Very nice to talk with her - and the ranch also is a glory of a sustainable tree farm, and home (it''s so rural!, and beautiful) and still on the frontier somehow. Annie and I drove in her 2007 Prius with many dashboard lights on incl 'Maint Reqrd' to visit with Butch and Karen, her neighbors next door - which was great). Nice to have visited the ranch last year with You, Sandy, Alden and Marianne for Ted Brown's memorial together.
Looking forward to seeing you on Cuttyhunk at the end of July. Talk soon. On with World Univ and Sch here today and the NSF grant. Many of the items above are assets in our family, and seeing WUaS this way is a very good idea too.
What are you up to today?
