What makes Stanford an American university?
'The First Great American University'
Innovation and vision have set Stanford apart.

 Hi M,

Nice to talk yesterday evening. Second red tomato is coming along, but has two little gouges (teeth or paw from weeks ago) in it - almost ready to eat nevertheless.

Current critter hypothesis: a deer comes onto the porch, walks behind the picnic table on its side, and nibbles my garden in a box. Hmmm ... all part of an ecology. But I put a single chair in the way between the picnic table and house last night just in case I could lesson this critter visit frequency. :)

May put on a blue blazer for my Scratch Ed video conference today with Alexa Kutler at 10am. It could be a kind of job interview (or I could see it this way). If I were to get a position at Stanford with my meeting on Tu Sept 24 and with Stanford Peace Innovation Institute's Mark Nelson, I could become the Stanford faculty member responsible for both facilitating the Scratch drag and drop programming language (get togethers / classes) at the Stanford Graduate School of Education (in
collaboration with the Harvard GSE), as well as facilitating Lego robotics (WeDo2 and Mindstorms EV3) with its own block programming language, and which works with Scratch too.

Programming and robotics, as well as teaching "Society, information technology and the global university" - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html - as well as a budding Harbin Hot Springs' course (reading my "Naked Harbin Ethnography" with Tom Boellstorff's "Coming of Age in Second Life: An Anthropologist Explores the Virtual Human" and making a realistic virtual Harbin; here's a comparison of chapters - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/06/bipedalism-naked-harbin-ethnography.html) may all be my foci - together with developing World University and School in all ~200 countries' languages as major online universities, and in all 7097 living languages.

You might enjoy this Harbin blog post of mine -
- from 2008, which I just updated.

What are you up to today?

L, Scott
