Thank you, Mannish, for your edifying talk on aspects of the science of meditation at Stanford - https://events.stanford.edu/events/782/78275/ - and especially for facilitating the 10 minute meditating opportunity for everyone in your talk towards its close, as well. (And nice to meet you in the Stanford meditation talk, Kathryn (Devaney) - also in Stanford Medicine, but who told me her last name from the back row as I was leaving, said she was a neuroscientist, yet who's email I can't find online). I'm sorry Mannish that I didn't get the chance to meet you in person afterward, but I was heading to a Stanford Law CodeX talk at 1:30. I hope we might meet, talk (and possibly meditate together even) sometime soon.
And thanks, Mannish, for suggesting a researchable definition of meditation as "cognitive control," for the scientific studies you shared, and for your images to help such studies of 'consciousness' - ie the torchlight re focusing on a pile of garbage or a heap of gold - among much more. I asked the questions, Mannish, from near the back of the hall about the use of the information technology of brain wave headsets as they develop in the study of meditation and especially brain modeling and imaging, (and at the street view, cellular and atomic levels especially). I also asked about operationalizing different qualities of meditation, namely the 'relaxation response' and studying this scientifically with brainwave headsets, in both warm water and on land, comparatively. I also asked whether there had been any scientific studies done on this. (Kathryn J Devaney told me that there had been a recent study on the 'relaxation response' as meditation by Lazar et al, and I found this one which it appears to be - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5976535/).
In asking, I was also curious about modeling meditation research scientifically in new ways in a realistic virtual earth. (Think Google Streetview with TIME SLIDER, Google Brain, at the cellular and atomic levels especially / Translate and Google / Stanford's Project Baseline, and Google's platform).
Might we even explore collaborating together to establish some meditation baselines for individuals, and in Stanford's Project Baseline, for example?
(In developing MIT OCW-centric World University and School, which is like Wikipedia in ~300 languages with CC-4 MIT OCW in 5 languages, WUaS seeks to matriculate students for online free degrees from home in all ~200 countries' official and main languages ... and potentially create the opportunity to study meditation, for example, with very large sample sizes, - large numbers of people in multiple languages meditating with brain wave headsets from home). Such data could stream into a Project Baseline and a related realistic virtual earth with avatar bots even for developing research on improving brain wave headsets for meditation research as well.
Per your - https://bewell.stanford.edu/events/event/cbd-2018-neuroscience-of-contemplative-practices-existing-evidence-and-remaining-questions/ - in what ways could we best explore "some of the remaining questions and new directions for research?," and together even? (I'm seeking a position at Stanford presently, and such meditation research collaboration questions would be made easier if I had this position; I also am in touch with Stanford Medicine Chair Bob Harrington MD about WUaS's planned online Medical Schools with online teaching hospitals for online clinical care in each of all ~200 countries' official and main languages, and with Kim Bullock MD around VR for questions of the mind +).

World University and School is like Wikipedia in its ~300 languages with CC-4 MIT OpenCourseWare in 5 languages (https://ocw.mit.edu/& https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/), and seeks to become the Harvard / MIT / Stanford / Oxbridge of the Internet in all ~200 countries' official and main languages for free-to-students' Bachelor, Ph.D., Law, M.D. and I.B. high school degrees, and wiki schools for open teaching and learning in all 7,097 living languages (per Ethnologue). Besides MIT OCW and wiki, WUaS has a particular language focus, seeking to develop an universal translator in all 7,097 living languages (Think Google Translate in 100+ languages with Wikidata/Wikibase's ~300 languages conceptually).

MIT OCW-centric World University and School is planning all countries' and in their main languages' online Medical Schools, and with psychiatry departments (but MIT doesn't have a medical school), with VR and information technology, and even with developing online psychoanalysis, and re many research programs. It would be great to talk further about co-developing online teaching hospitals in all countries' official languages in a WUaS Medical Schools / Stanford Medicine VR collaboration. Conceptually, this would be like Google Streetview/Maps/Earth with Time Slider, with OpenSim/Second Life (but realistic) for group build-ability and avatars, and in all 8k languages, and also at the cellular and atomic levels.
For the cellular / molecular level and brain-research (potentially with brainwave headsets for studies, for example, from people's homes in all ~ 8,444 languages - per Glottolog), think Thomas Dean's Google Brain research (https://research.google.com/ pubs/author189.html and https: //archive.org/details/Redwood_ Center_2013_04_19_Tom_Dean), and at the atomic / nano levels, think MIT's Ed Boyden's work on expansion microscopy (https://www.media.mit.edu/ research/highlights/expansion- microscopy and https:// twitter.com/eboyden3) - all coming together in brain modeling in this realistic virtual earth, for example. Another part of this collaboration would include developing this realistic virtual earth for STEM research - for what I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world- graphy (http://scott-macleod. blogspot.com/search/label/ ethno-wiki-virtual-world- graphy) where STEM researchers in many languages could add their computer modeling, carry out studies, and add data - and which would also be "classrooms" in all languages.
