Ninja-Geeks Bogota.

Let's keep in touch.

Colombia World University and School will emerge here ... https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States ... in Spanish and as a wiki ... and for free-to-students' online university and high school degrees in Spanish and other main languages there.

Cindy and Felicia,

9 - 12th grade computer workshops in group video?

Very nice to meet you, Cindy, Berni and Felica,

Here are the notes from today's Scratch 3 Meet Up - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vnhCsIfZjc1xvIctx0F3yHnnl1J_SslXo7_A00sU3b4/edit?usp=sharing.

And it looks like there are 42 International Baccalaureate schools in Colombia at different levels and for different ages - https://www.ibo.org/programmes/find-an-ib-school/?SearchFields.Country=CO WUaS is seeking to innovate and create an online I.B. high school degree around MIT OCW High School - https://ocw.mit.edu/high-school/ - beginning with MIT OCW in Spanish (college-level though) ... https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/spanish/ ... https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/ ... with classes for learning and playing (learning as play) in something like Google group video Hangouts.

Here's the Spanish Language wiki subject - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Spanish_language - planned to develop in Spanish ...

Cindy, here's the Stanford event I mentioned - "Poesía de Abya Yala / Poetry from Abya Yala" ... https://events.stanford.edu/events/827/82719/ - and there are events there open to the public accessible from here - https://events.stanford.edu/today/ ... I'll keep you posted if I see something that might interest you.

Felicia, shall we explore setting up Skype-ing what you suggested - and then develop this into online workshops between schools - e.g. in Sacramento and in Bogota?

World Univ & Sch holds open Hangouts on Monday mornings at 10am if you're interested too - https://youtube.com/user/WorldUnivandSch.

Thank you, Brendan, so much for all you do! Google's CS efforts are amazing.

This autumn WUaS is seeking a matriculating online undergraduate class in English as we begin to get licensed and then accredit. Can you let Colombians know who might be interested in a 4 year online undergraduate MIT OCW-centric degree program in English - when we get our web site up and working? It would be great to get 10-20 English-speaking Colombians into our classes.

Regards, Scott

Hi Scott,

Nice to meeting you as well.  Thanks for sharing these notes. Today’s event was amazing. We will be looking into these resources.

I hope we are able to work with for Colombian programs in the near future.

Best Regards,
Cindy Gonzalez

Hi Cindy,

Thanks very much for your email, and looking forward to exploring all of this further.

Here are 3 further relevant wiki subjects at World Univ & Sch, not yet in Spanish, but check out the MIT OCW (brainstorming-wise):

Programming -

Computer_Science -

FYI, I found these brief Revolutionary Lemon resources interesting re possible applications and range of Scratch 3 -  https://scratch.mit.edu/users/revolutionarylemon/

Very nice to meet and talk with you all, (and to see you again Brendan - https://twitter.com/EduBrendan & Irene!). Are you on Twitter, Felicia, Cindy, Bernard, or Irene? :)

Best regards, Scott

Ninja-Geeks Bogota :) and All,

At the end of this video he suggests building the Microbit into wood or Legos ... with many other good ideas (including uploading the Hex file to the MicroBit, a concept I didn't 'get' today), and some complements to our explorations throughout:

Scratch 3.0 and Micro:bit - Drive a vehicle with your Micro:bit - DIY game-controller -

https://youtu.be/i0C8ycEee1w

Building the MicroBit into Lego Robotics could suggest to me that matriculated high school students at World University and School, probably first in English, Spanish and Chinese, play with the MicroBit for as long as a term (16 weeks) ... with Scratch 3.0 ... and then possibly move on to We Do 2.0 or similar for home robotics, and potentially with Brick Street View (for Lego bricks) in Google Street View with time slider / Maps / Earth.

See too - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/experimental-study-group/es-293-lego-robotics-spring-2007/ and https://www.media.mit.edu/projects/lego-wayfinder/overview/ ...

His Danish accent took some getting used to for me ...

Cindy and Bernardo, if we were to explore further developing online curricula in Spanish for Colombians at high school and university levels at World University and School (and for younger students at Ninja-Geeks), based on MIT OCW and with a Scratch and Lego focus, it would be your understanding of the cultures of learning ... and re best students ... who might then head to the US for university at Stanford or MIT / Harvard or to Oxbridge, for example ... that would a remarkable 'value' you could add to this project.

Thanks so much as well, Cindy and Bernardo, Felicia, Brendan and Irene!

Cheers, Scott

I blog some about Scratch and Lego Robotics under the https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/robotics and 'programming' labels, only pretty much in English so far, and blogged about our ScratchEd Meet-ing here today - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/03/victoria-amazonica-ninja-geeks-bogota.html ...
