Fwd: MIT OCW in all languages

Prasanth, Tariq - and Tamil Virtual Academy, Tamil University, Vetrivel Foundation -  Karky's Research Foundation (in Chennai, largest city in Tamil Nadu, India) Prem, Larry,

So, brainstorming-wise, and in creating a new machine translation academic press in GDocs, how to translate CC-4 MIT OCW's Circuit and Electronics -

into GDocs in Tamil here -

'into Tamil language Circuits and Electronics' -

then INTO something like this -

in TAMIL?

Scott
PS please see email below too.

Dear Prasanth (in Madurai), Tariq (at the India National Machine Translation Mission) in Mysore, India, Karky's Office Chennai, Prem (In Kochi, Kerala), Larry,

Thank you so much, Prasanth, Tariq and Prem, for our great Google Meet conversation for an hour yesterday about "Fwd: MIT OCW in all languages" and the 22 official languages in India and esp. the Tamil language. And it was very nice to meet you, Tariq. Prasanth, regarding your interest and recent emails about further translation into the Tamil language program, I come back to my previous email here below. And I wonder even how to create a machine translation press (WUaS Press) in GDocs (which could print to paper at the end of the process, and be mailed through the post in India), using the example below again, but newly perhaps with Anant Agarwal's Circuits and Electronics' MIT OCW course in GDocs to create both a platform, for STEM machine translation, as well as STEM terminology. So this would be a WUaS Press GDocs' platform for machine translation / machine learning, where perhaps human translators, Tariq, of the 22 scheduled languages in India could 'train' Google Translate in GDocs.

How to add the MIT OCW "Circuits and Electronics'" course to GDocs - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-002-circuits-and-electronics-spring-2007/ - and to prepare some beginnings of this course for machine translation into Tamil as a test case, like again:

"Translating from MacLeod Light Float Sit Watsu Virtually 2021 original manuscript - 6 x 9 w ISBN

All the best,
Scott

PS
Part of my email about all of this and setting up the beginning steps of a new translation platform and press in GDocs:

So again, "thank you for your interest in translating some of my new book of poetry "Light, Float, Sit, Watsu ~ Virtually" (2021) re your "I'm interested in sir" email earlier.

Light, Float, Sit, #Watsu ~ Virtually: Bodymind Electricity Sings to Me at #HarbinHotSprings & Other Traveling Poems' (book) is AVAILABLE ! :)

@WUaSPress (@WorldUnivAndSch)

Let's get the WUaS Press started in GDocs - which seems to be such a GREAT platform to develop a new press in.

Here's the book's first poem, and Google Translate - https://translate.google.com/ - as a little step toward translating it:

Light, Float, Sit

Light

lights

Harbin

harmony

in one, waters warm,

immense, immersion, milieu d’eau.

Float

flies

in warm

watery

ease-me-in present,

a gift of flight in fluid d’eau

where freedom finds releasing in among hug nude friends.

Sit,

roots

around,

touch all cells,

water pool food

intimate naked yes exchange,

of mind body suit seamlessly freeing we who connect under stars, skies, Harbin-wise.

Am thinking it might be good regarding my 4 poetry books as 'products' in the Tamil language potentially, to keep them 'whole' (rather than choose my favorite 10-20 poems for example, and compile these into a new volume). And we can work out the further steps to the WUaS Press in GDocs re printing to paper etc later!

I've created some beginning documents below, but won't share access with you quite yet, until we work out a translation and publishing process little further.

Regards,
Scott
As this web site develops - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html - I'm hopeful WUaS can develop this WUaS Press and WUaS Bookstore in Tamil on a new platform experimentally, and possibly sell your translation of my book from this even.

HI Scott,

Glad you got the Land’s End gift certificate.  Have fun.  It took a while to get there.  Mail is a bit erratic these days.

I’m limiting myself to just the recap of the day’s news. Or trying to.  I feel strongly that I need to be informed about what is going on.    It is a fascinating week in terms of news, isn’t it?  The Sunday NYTimes in the Review Section had a number of thoughtful articles on the current scene.

Did I understand there is in the offing another bagpipe student?  I wasn’t clear about that. And, is your current student going to be able to continue to study with you after he moves?

The sun is shining and Longwood has installed a fire pit very near to my cottage (location determined by me) so I hope to try it out this Saturday for the regular Saturday outside lunch.

Hope you have a good week.

Love, Ma

Hi Ma,

Thanks for your email. Thanks too much for the Lands' End card - maybe the USPO got bogged down in the after-Xmas rush? :)

Yes, how 'Desiderata-best' to navigate the media's communication power, and daily meditation-wise too)? I look at the NY Times' headlines daily ... And lightning rod seems to pull ifocus toward him - am curious how Biden will navigate the Media smokescreens - ie the News - as the legal processes fortunately still roll on with the lightning and smoke, - based on Obama years.

Will give Taylor a lesson next in 2 Thursdays ... (And he, newly, hasn't paid yet for the only lesson in the new year so far, but there's a two week window of time to pay - until just after the next lesson, re kicking the tires too of financial system developments during Covid-19 pandemic???)

Am exploring taking lessons further to focus my 2nd iteration of 'Honey in the Bag' album, and even to begin two further albums' planning - read my yesterday's email to Ian Whitelaw here and below

Thank you, Ian!

This video - https://youtu.be/ENzIxbMEo2c - was inspiring in a number of ways, the Piobaireachd to a rhythm with the images of the farm, the quartet and their playing remotely, all the examples of small piping, and the different bagpipes too, the compositions, in some ways a kind of groove too in some, and more, all videos of mostly Australian Scots, - almost a SSP+ showcase from OZ! Thank you for thinking of me and sending this. What can I 'riff' with idea-wise and in terms of the SSP sound I'm heading for? To be seen ...

One piping video (Uilleann) I find inspiring on numerous listenings is Catherine Ashcroft and Maurice Dickson's 2 tunes, slow and fast  -
catherine ashcroft & maurice dickson (mochara) - táimse im' chodladh/king of the pipers

https://youtu.be/P40YOU8ggJk - but playing and learning from this re note duration, and with Catherine's almost meditation (I think), in very beautiful way.

It's the expressivity I appreciate too ...
Catherine Ashcroft & Maurice Dickson (Mochara) - Táimse im' Chodladh/King of the Pipers
https://youtu.be/P40YOU8ggJk
(but on Uilleann pipes, - and with guitar too for expressive synergies).

Playing a tune one is learning with a metronome, can help, but not necessarily with expressiveness, which may come out of the communication between piper and accompanist.

So, in what ways could I head toward this kind of Catherine Ashcroft note duration for expressive beauty on the Scottish Small Pipes, and in the 2nd iteration of my 'Honey in the Bag' tunes - https://scottmacleodhoneyinthebagscottishsmallpipesbagpiping.bandcamp.com/ - I ask myself, and potentially in conversation with you too.

And similarly Stuart Liddell's fingering - "Stuart Liddell - Lunchtime Recital 2010: 3 of 8" (2010)

https://youtu.be/pQEJf5XZPL8 - even for slow tunes like "My Home," and for both simple and complex tunes, - for the unique remarkable flow experiences of listening, is very inspiring. How to develop such wonderful open fingering for playing expressive light music, not on Stuart's amazing sound highland pipes too, but on small pipes?

And could I plan for 2 further bagpiping albums, after a 2nd iteration of 'Honey in the Bag' - 1) one, of the 10 most beautiful Piobaireachd (to my ear, - and what is beauty in a Piobaireachd, or what is 'lyrical' beauty in tunes in light music? - And what is beauty in piping?), and 2) two, the other album with new favorite light music tunes? Such goals help me also improve my piping - and toward beautiful playing, with conversation with you - and are helpful re Guidelines for Playing a Musical Instrument - http://scottmacleod.com/GuidelinesPracticingMusicalInstrument.htm - almost in terms of 'charting.'

And I'd like to innovate excellently with Piobaireachd and in new ways with the SSP compared even with the GHB, and riff naturally with the 1973 Allman Bros I sent you, after first finding some keys in which this is possible.

Am working too (tonight when I was playing) on developing my Crunluath a Mach, the Taorluath a Mach, the Crunluath Breabach, and Crunluath Fosgailte, from the back of the CoP Yellow Tutor, Vol 4 Revised edition - and for first playing "The Desperate Battle of the Birds."

I'd like my first tune on the Piobaireachd album to be 'The Desperate Battle of the Birds,' which I find very beautiful as well.

Might we get together to talk about some of this further please?

Thank you so much for sharing the inspiring "Jimmy's Gift" video ... am seeking a kind of excellence in playing too, in both the classical Piobaireachd, re expressiveness, as well as in the Light Music, to create almost trance, whirling, flight flow experiences (coming into conversation with Stuart Liddell, and maybe some of the tunes from his Piping Live Glasgow 2010) for the listeners. I used a metronome with headphones on my first album, but think that GREAT drum rhythms - perhaps generated with Scottish AI Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Drumming - on headphones would be interactively and communicatively beneficial and could even be wonderful.

Thank you, Ian, for your thinking!

Scott

Ma, but I'm recalling I have 1 further lesson from 2020 left with National Piping Center in Glasgow, - and thanks to your kind music lesson gift, I could sign up for Another series of ten lessons with the NPC instead of Ian Whitelaw in southern Calif's - depending on my goals for these lessons - with Scots' slightly hippy piper Ali Hutton?). And thanks to the marvel's if lesson recordings, I'll likely listen now to my lessons with Connor Sinclair as I revisit my first iteration of Honey in the Bag' on SSP.

So glad you got your fire pit installed - and for this Saturday's outdoors' get together with friends - newly at Longwood! :))

Love, Scott

Hi Ma,

Germany is entering a national election phase through September 2021 with its very different COALITION party politics. Angela Merkel, Chancellor and in the CDU party (slightly right of center, and a large party), - but Germany as a whole is somewhat LEFT of center, and more socially oriented ... with a very DIFFERENT social contract with its citizens, than most other countries in the world - is stepping down after 16 quite successful years, I think history will write. And does a new civil 'PITCHED BATTLE' for the Chancellorship now begin there in that Democracy, where money, image-making and reaching the people - the voters - are all significant in different ways? The parties choose their candidates, and the Green's Robert Habeck is likely to be the Green Party's candidate. Who can actually win - ie has enough money?? - and the backing of their party?  The SPD is the slightly left of center party, and also large - and Olaf Scholz is leading in its polls.

(From TAZ.de ... a German paper started in 1979, which is actually a cooperative) ...

"Before the election of the new CDU boss: Does Merz do it with green?
Friedrich Merz polarizes. The party decides whether he is the right CDU leader. But can Merz also become the first black and green chancellor?" (Google Translate)

https://taz.de/Vor-der-Wahl-des-neuen-CDU-Chefs/!5739205/

(From the English "The Guardian" .... )
"German CDU on verge of electing divisive figure to replace Angela Merkel
Millionaire lawyer Friedrich Merz is favourite to take centre-right into federal elections
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/13/german-cdu-on-verge-of-electing-divisive-figure-friedrich-merz-to-replace-angela-merkel

Could Scholz or Habeck win the Chancellorship - and in the coalition - not winner-take-all, politics of Germany?

Whom will the media elect in Germany, if the media and Covid-19 elected Biden - with the US people in a landslide victory? :) Will this be an interesting election idea-wise? (Many municipal elections can seem quite boring to many, for example.:)

Looks like the Democrats in the US are coming to 'winner-take-all' power, if Biden's inauguration goes smoothly - wow (after the last 4 tense years)!

Ideas, thoughts, questions, suggestions?

Love, Scott

Ma,

Interesting headline from Frankfurter Rundschau Newspaper

Donald Trump plans to flee the USA - and goes into hiding

What does it mean, and why no other similar headlines so far, I wonder?

Love, Scott

*

Ma,

How was your day? How are you doing re the media fray? :) It's a melee of words and symbols ...

Lots of 'palace guard' playbooks (sports' teams' wise, and from history) come to mind in the upcoming days to the 1/20/2021 inauguration, so that just keeping Biden alive - and through to the day after the inauguration - whether he attends this actually - OR VIRTUALLY (due to covid-19 pandemic risk????) could be one wise strategy for the US polity to engage ... :) And Rump thinks in terms of force, in one way or another (one interpretation of Jacques Lacan's REAL??? ... and I'm glad the media got Rump on video from from his imaginary to the symbolic, saying he'd support an orderly transfer of power) What do you think?

May have begun a new machine translation press - for all 7,117 known living languages - in GDocs today :)) with Google Translate :) @WUaSPress :)

Looks like an opportunity - a corrected link message - to apply to be a Stanford Fellow by Friday ... Hmmm ... :)

Hi Ma,

How are you? How was your day yesterday?

We had a great talk about machine translation re WUaS with 3 colleagues from India yesterday, one new, Tariq Khan, the project officer at the India National Machine Translation Mission, and capably smart and supportively connecting like Indians can be. Amazing what group video makes possible! All were from south India: Prasanth in Madurai, Tariq in Mysore, and Prem in Cochi, Kerala. Kinda incredible. :)

Is N's face changing due to the Covid-19 vaccines she's taken two doses of? Possibly, in pic on Twitter ... An effect I hadn't thought of before ...
Still circulating ... Is it hard to circulate out here during covid-19 self quarantine in seeking a life partner? - just different I think ... Stay in touch with the Robbs re ? Marrying a MD still appeals, but connecting naturally has much merit, - and with someone who could live in the SF Bay Area for a few years?

Desiderata is realistically helpful in words https://www.desiderata.com/desiderata.html - in life.

Love, Scott

*

Ma,

When you have mRNA vaccine material at the molecular level coursing through your body as a TEST (human lab animals???? - in case of emergency???? ... many ethics' questions here, re Covid-19 pandemic, and international law in these regards too) to see if it can prevent one virus of the common cold, or similar, what might it do to one's fertility too - and when it's basically completely UNTESTED, with zero DATA about this too, for example? I think the Swiss newspaper article (https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1347968206116319232?s=20 - https://twitter.com/sgkmacleod/status/1347968413486878721?s=20 - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/01/garden-of-gods.html?m=0) about taking this vaccine, that about 1/4 of MDs in Switzerland won't take the Covd-19 is very germane here.

On with circulating, and in seeking a life partner, as well as WUaS, as the last 4 years' political climate comes to a close!

Love, Scott
