Stanford Law [codex_group_meeting
Our next CodeX group meeting is today (May 20), from 1:30p to 2:30p PT, via Zoom - please use link and password below. Our meetings continue to be held remotely.
Our guests will be:
Victor Fonseca, Head of ThinkFuture, and Fernando Serec, Managing Partner, TozziniFreire. TozziniFreire is a 43-year-old, full-service Brazilian law firm which developed ThinkFuture, a program at the intersection of law, innovation, and technology that helps to evolve the local legaltech ecosystem.
Stephen Trusheim, CEO, Tome. Tome aims to translate complicated contracts into terms the user can understand, summarizing whether each paragraph meets the user's standards, and explaining individual terms; its initial domain is early-stage venture capital financings.

Conversation between Martin and Scott during CodeX:
Scott:
Thanks and fascinating, Martin! What do you see or envision as next steps in building out the AutoCAD side of this ‘realistic virtual earth for architecture’ - and how would this affect the computable contracts’ side ahead? Here’s a #HashTag about a realistic virtual earth for architecture - https://twitter.com/hashtag/
Martin:
Hi Scott, I really don't know much about virtual earth for architecture. I use contraction / AutoCAD mostly to contrast the very poor software support of contracts with an industry - construction - that is much further ahead in terms for supporting their business with software. I hope this makes sense.
Scott:
Thanks so much for your message. Am envisioning a realistic virtual earth for everything - think Google Street View with time slider, Maps, Earth, TensorFlowAI, Translate, with avatar bots even - and am wondering how such successful entrepreneurial approach to architecture which is AutoCAD, for both architectural design, and computational contracts, might integrate, or benefit from the TensorFlowAI, or develop further benefits for AutoCAD such as environmental costs and issues, and similar. Am also interested in how AutoCAD might work in all ~200 countries, potentially with legal contracts too. How might you think such developments improve on AutoCAD, and the very poor software support of contracts with an industry - construction - regarding business software questions? Would love to stay in communication about all of this as well (and regarding CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch, planned in ~200 countries and in their main languages). Will email you in some of these regards too, Martin - and thanks
Do you use AutoCAD in both Denmark and Germany, by any chance? How do the computational contracts, if they work in both systems (as early as they may be) work?
Martin:
The computational contracts that we work with presently are not construction related - our current test cases are loan contracts and IT operations contracts. As such our platform is not related to AutoCAD at all.
That is not to say that it could not be. There are certainly potentially relevant touch points between AutoCAD and our platform. For instance AutoCAD supports BIM which is for instance used for reviewing the building for non compliance with the specification and running the remediation process. It would be great to connect this data to the construction contract logic to for instance determine the consequences of failing to remediate in a timely fashion.
Scott:
SketchUp is Google-related, now architectural software. Am curious how a parallel to AutoCAD architectural software with much better computer contracts might emerge. Have blogged, in an envisioning personal way a bit about Sketchup and AutoCAD - and realistic virtual earth too here - https://scott-macleod.
Martin:
They're even better at code :-)
Scott:
As the president of World Univ & Sch and an anthropologist with Actual-Virtual Harbin Hot Springs as my field site, and planning to create a realistic virtual earth for ethnographic comparison, with buildings and architecture too, am appreciating the building out of Google Street View with time slider / Tensor Flow AI with computational contracts and AI for architecture even :)
Scott:
Will add you, Martin, to the WUaS Monthly Business Meeting emails, and you'll see the planning for a realistic virtual earth in many other directions, but that WUaS hasn't become financially operational yet either (unfortunately). Architectural planning could be a first great starting place for building out single realistic virtual earth for architecture with AI even.
