New!! Google for Education Course for Inperson Teaching and Learning
Dear Educators,
Hope you are doing well and here is Wishing you all “A Very Happy Diwali
and a prosperous New Year “
To make this Diwali holidays more productive and getting prepared for school after that, here is an exciting New Course for in person Teaching from ‘Google for Education’
Forwarding as received
“On behalf of the Google for Education team, I'm excited to announce the launch of our new Google Tools for In-Person Learning course! The goal of this course is to provide practical strategies for using technology in the classroom.
Why?
We’re addressing recent research and feedback from this incredible community which showed that some educators are using technology less frequently – because they’re seeking additional training and guidance around using digital tools for an in-person context.
What?
We’ve developed the new Google Tools for In-Person Learning course, which lives in the Teacher Center and is currently available in 7 languages: US-English, UK-English, Spanish-LATAM, Portuguese-BR, Japanese, Indonesian, Hindi. Each activity contains:
A learning objective tied to powerful Google Workspace for Education products
A short video that demonstrates how to use the tools highlighted in the activity
A “challenge” that asks educators to apply what they learned to a “real life” scenario
To accompany the course, we’ve also developed a set of localized Facilitator Guides that will help you build out training agendas focused on tech-in-person. We encourage you to leverage these Facilitator Guides to deliver customized, face-to-face training experiences in your schools! “

Glad for this new innovation from Google Education.
Am continuing to explore at CC-4
OCW.MIT.EDU -centric World Univ & Sch how MIT OCW might be added to an innovative Google Education platform for free Bach., PhD, Law, MID and IB high school, and in World Univ & Sch seeking to be incubated by Google in Bakery Square in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ... and potentially translated languages-wise and culturally into India's 22 official languages.
Thoughts about this, and especially how to develop the first year of a free-to-students' online
ocw.mit.edu -centric Bachelor's degree, first in English, for matriculating students on September 1, 2023?
Regards, Scott
Exploring some of this further here -

Dear Allison,
Greetings. How are you? I recall an Allison (and Emily) Thompson as wonderful Country Dancers in Pittsburgh in the 1970s (when I was in my high school years). Do we possibly know each other from then, and English Country Dancing? I'm writing to find out whether this is the address for this Saturday for English Country Dancing -
Bulgarian Macedonian National Educational and Cultural Center (BMNECC) 449 W. 8th Ave, West Homestead PA 15120 ?
I'd like to explore dancing if possible (although I have a left longer leg with a slight hip issue).
I also read that for
Play Dater Music Sessions: Musicians of all abilities are welcome. We play English country dance tunes from the Barnes books. If you don’t have those, we can share. If you can’t read music, we can show you how to play along with drones, chords, or harmonies. To get on the email list or for more information, folks can email Allison Thompson at
Allison.1775.thompson@gmail.com."
I play the Scottish Small Pipes (& for about 7 years now, after playing the Highland Bagpipes since around 1974, and am curious too about playing for English or Scottish possibly). I played both Small Pipes and bass lines on a key board in 'Open Band' -
in south Berkeley for many years for Scottish Country Dancing until before the coronavirus pandemic (with the Pink and Blue SCD books, and other sheet music too) and could be interested in playing music for dances in addition to dancing English but not Scottish due to the hip issue.
Looking forward to seeing you again on Saturday if we do know each other from the 1970s, and you're there.
Thank you,
Scott

Hi Scott!
Sorry for the late response--I am indeed that Allison and I remember you well! Fun times! Emily and her husband live in Ann Arbor MI and our youngest sister, Abigail, who might have started dancing after you left to go to college, and her family are here in Pgh.
I hope that you made it to the dance on Sat and met some folks--I am cc'g Arthur McNair on this email as he is a fab SCD teacher and accordionist and if anyone were to pull together some SCD players, it would be he.
The next English playdate is Sat nov 3 from 1-3 at my house, 1623 Denniston Street, Pgh 15217 (in Squirrel Hill). I hope that you can make it. The next one after that will also be the first Sat in Dec.
After the covid pause we are also reconstituting the Holiday Ball Orchestra, which is a community contra dance band that typically plays once a year. Our next ball is Feb 24 and we are just about to announce the tunes and set up some zoom slow play alongs. I'm cc'g co-organizer Donna Isaac for that.
Hope to see you soon!
Best
Allison

Thanks so much for your email, Allison, and nice to e-meet you Donna and Arthur, as well. I remember Abigail well too, Allison, and it's great to reconnect here and now. Greetings to Emily and Abigail! (I lived in Pittsburgh from 1974-1979, going to Shady Side, and spent a year in Edinburgh, Scotland at Fettes College between my junior and senior years too, (and in 2006-2007) ). "The next English playdate is Sat nov 5 from 1-3 at" your house sounds fun. ...
Thanks too for the Callers' dance information at Pittsburgh Friends Meeting tomorrow. (Scottish Small Pipes' wise, I'm glad to have 3 chanters, in A B flat, and D mixolydian, with only 9 notes each, making playing from sheet music for dances interesting, and hence playing bass lines on a lightweight portable keyboard in Open Band Scottish Country Dancing, when not piping in the background, Arthur and all. Dance tempo wise, here's a recent album of Ceol Beag Scottish piping light music -
(Working on my 2nd album of Scottish Small Piping now, this one of Piobaireachd Ceol Mor, to release in December:)
With best wishes, Scott
Exploring these directions too -
#ScottishSmallPiping & #RealRealTime #MusicMaking Online >Upcoming
... and CC-4 OCW.MIT.EDU -centric wiki World Univ & Sch for free degrees, and open wiki schools esp. IN ALL 200 COUNTRIES, AND in their main languages for free WUaS degrees - Bach, PhD, Law, MD and IB high school - AND wiki schools in all 7,151 known living languages :)
