New Years' / Xmas / Season's Greetings' Holidays' gifts
Dear Larry and Kim,
Happy New Years' / Xmas / Season's Greetings' Holidays! This being close to Twelfth Night (when probably there were many festive celebrations - and in many households - for decades or centuries and longer in Great Britain in the dark of winter, centuries' ago, but which holiday seems to have diminished as a significant holiday - bringing people together), I wanted to get you some gifts.
It occurs to me to give you the following as physical books:
George Church's "Regenesis: How Synthetic Biology Will Reinvent Nature and Ourselves" (2012)
Simon Winchester's "The Professor and the Madman" (1998) - about how the "Oxford English Dictionary" began, and a fascinating and inspiring read (partly from an insane asylum:)
Yo-Yo Ma / Chris Thile / Edgar Meyer's "Bach Trios" (2016) - especially since you're a cellist Kim
But having checked both Caliban's Bookstore, and Pitt's Bookstore, in Oakland - and with no luck - and being impoverished in a sense, it occurred to me to check the Carnegie Library of Oakland for these books. It has all of them, and I've checked them out (and the library may have "The Professor and the Madman" as an audio book too).
The Carnegie Libraries' return dates are fungible and I think these books auto-renew as well, but let's stay in touch about this. Appreciating the culture of mind and free speech in these Carnegie Libraries (and perhaps even regarding the lack of culture of mind I sense in the universities in Oakland, curiously:). But as I was returning from the Pitt Bookstore, I found and stopped in the Pitt Philosophy department on the 10th floor of the Cathedral of Learning, and asked if I could get on a Pitt Philosophy colloquia list, gave her my email address -
sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org - and mentioned the abundance of Philosophy courses at MIT OCW-centric World Univ & Sch ... and found the person who helps with this to have good energy somehow:).
And I've come up with a new "I'm so poor ..." JOKE to accompany giving them to you :). I'm so poor, I had to go to the free Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, to get Xmas gifts for the acting treasurer of CC-4 licensed
OCW.MIT.EDU -centric World Univ & Sch" :)
I also would like to give you next Xmas-time - if we can figure out abolition at Chatham University, and other learning institutions we've talked about, and I'm still alive toward the end of the year - my next book tentatively entitled "Society, Information Technology, and the Global University" (2023, Academic Press at World University and School).
Happy Xmas. I'll seek to wrap them and bring them over to your house in the next few days!
Sincerely, abolitionally, Friendly regards, Scott

Twelfth Night of Christmas! An informal invitation for you
Hi! Happy New Year!
This is a totally spur-of-the-moment invitation for you to join us for a “night of Christmas” get-together – Friday, June 6, for hors d’oeuvres, hard or soft festive drink, and maybe the last of the Christmas cookies. Last chance to wear the Christmas sweater? We’ll come up with festive drinks and a pile of substantial snacks. If you would bring an appetizer or a dessert to share, I would be most grateful. If you can wait until 6:30, come hungry and we can feast on the last of the Christmas temptations before settling down to routine again. (Or come later and just have cookies?)
If you wish, bring a wrapped fun gift to trade - a tiny white elephant? Nothing very serious… Dress up or down…
Please let me know if you can or can’t come, so I can plan accordingly!
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and all good wishes!

Am a conscientious objector regarding this Twelfth Night invite ...
Pastor Kim Viehland,
Hi Kim, Happy New Year to you too,
Am going to be focusing on abolition questions on Friday evening, and am still deeply troubled by your "where are we going to get the prostitutes from?" question, - re abolishing contemporary forms of slavery - & re your engagement with the jcc some weeks ago, and now regarding Chatham University too (and what you said about your mother's mother in West Virginia in some of these regards too).
Will bring over the 3 books and music sometime later this week.
Best wishes, abolition-ally, living in an asylum place in PA from CA, Yogic-ally, Friendly greetings, Scott

Hi! If your world lightens up any and you should change your mind, please come anyhow!
To answer your question in a voice mail, Larry suffered no ill effects from his fall, just a little stiff for a few days.

Lots of light in my world thanks, Kim! Best wishes, abolition-ally, hope we can build an abolition movement successfully to protect all 7.9 billion people on the planet, each a Wikidata PIN # and in all 200 countries and speakers of all 7,151 known living languages, at MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School. NOTE:
A bit horrifically, Pastor Kim Viehland, MIT alumna in chemistry from the late 1960s, is ordained as a minister in the Methodist Church (having gone to seminary in Pittsburgh), and is also active in the jcc in Pittsburgh, by playing cello in the Edgewood Symphony. It's possible though that both Larry and Kim Viehland, could be helpful in growing the abolition movement in the USA and world wide, both at Chatham University, where Chemistry Professor Emeritus Larry Viehland, and also former Chair of the Science department, is still an influencer I think. Am recalling when the 3 of us met at Chatham in around September 2022 in a lower parking lot behind the Science building, and Kim was picking some mint from a little garden there (possibly symbolic of tragic profits made in the illegal sex industry and by enslaving people, possibly via social psychology, and possibly "breaking" women. etc.). (Equally scarily, Kim's mother's mother may have been a prostitute in West Virginia - per the above too).
ALSO:
I have been on the faculty of Chatham College at the time (before it became co-ed) in 2007 (while living in Pittsburgh PA after my father was harmed in Belize on SAS), teaching "Society an dInformation Technology," - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html - as my father, significantly impaired from his brain injuries, was dying from from his 2 subdural hematomas, the first one received on Semester at Sea in Belize on December 30, 2004.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your birthday wishes. How are you doing in SF?
Season's Greetings and Happy New Year to you and with letter to come. Glad for World University and School to be potentially licensing and accrediting on the eastern seaboard post pandemic (in this 'asylum place' of Pennsylvania), - and am potentially moving back to CA in September 2023 to a 'newly safe' Canyon (& with wife, would be my wish too). Glad too I think for the Univ of Pgh to have reached out with an email expressing interest in partnering with
OCW.MIT.EDU -centric wiki World Univ & Sch last Monday and am hoping this could lead to monies for Work wiki World Univ & Sch. Thanks. Happy New Year!
Friendly regards,
Scott

Bill, Ed, All,
Thanks again for your birthday wishes, Bill. Still haven't received the handwritten test paper letter I sent from Pgh to myself at the PO Box 442 Canyon 94516 address for which I had put 1 ONE USPS forwarding card (in late September on a whirlwind flight to CA and fleeing for my life from CA driving a Budget truck back to Pgh PA) in to the US Post Office in Rheem (near Canyon 94516) with mail to forward to the Viehland's house at 1401 N Negley Pgh PA 15206, and where I received FOUR 4 USPS forwarding LETTERS on paper around November 2022 ...but STILL not the test paper letter I sent to myself in Canyon 94526, after you had mentioned something about sending one.
My mother just sent me a handwritten paper letter from just outside Pittsburgh to me in Pittsburgh ... so I think there may be an problem with the Rheem US post office, as part of a federal US system legally ... and as I continue to call for the abolition of the illegal sex and drug industries internationally and their latent networks of violence - and in Canyon and in the SF Bay Area esp. A federal and or state of CA investigation further ?
Ed (Smyth MD, Chief Medical Officer at WUaS), I'm remembering when we met in Orinda outside the district 7 CA state senator's office (Glazer) ... and went into the CVS ... and you curiously bought some bleach ... (I thought to myself at the time that some sort of purchase near a political office in California may be a sensible CA cultural practice, symbolically). I had been into this District 7 CA state senator's office office a number of times regarding KP health coverage via Contra Costa county and MediCal, I think, as well as regarding moving back into a newly safe 670 A Ridgecrest Road Canyon 94516 around this time.
I just received
a CVS email spam ... and wonder about CVS and monies to CA senators and how this is all structured legally too ... and regarding illegal criminality in and around Canyon 94516 ... and federal and state law working together.
Pin (Sid), Ed, Bill, how to develop further federal and state legal processes working together to protect people from Canyon crime for example (having received what I'll call a non creditable death threat nearby to Canyon on Skyline Dr in around 2917 which Ed rhen still a physician at KP checked out, and called the Moraga police twice at Cindy Hann MD's suggestion in around Sept 2020 while living in Canyon ... And just before I moved out to the 'unsafe house' on Arlington Blvd north of Berzerkeley.
Abolitionally, best regards, Friendly greetings from an asylum place in PA from CA,
Scott
