cyst (ganglion) info - Dr Andy Weil, Harvard, bottom of the foot
*
Dear David, All,
Thanks so much for the general exam yesterday at UPMC Shadyside hospital, and for the "cyst" word in your naming the nodule on the bottom of my left foot. In doing further research, I've learned much, including from this Harvard URL, and from Dr. Andy Weil MD, ad in seeing this picture. As I just text messaged to my Reed College friend Tym Lenderking in DC (from 1979) -
"Tym, rereading this -
- found this: " What is the conventional treatment?
One traditional “treatment” was to hit them with a heavy book ... " :)"
So while I haven't tried this yet, and none of the other resources below offer any helpful effective therapies, some questions I have are: how much pressure, how many times a day and even how could we develop & study this scientifically (at OCW.MIT.EDU-centric wiki World Univ & Sch, at Shadyside hospital, etc.) and with your help or thinking too? While I'm going to explore hitting the cyst behind the ball of my left foot with a book soon, and experimentally, thanks to this 'telemedicine,' it might be interesting to explore these questions together at some point in the future.
Thoughts, ideas, questions, suggestions?
Thank you again so much, David!
Best regards, abolition-ally, Friendly greetings, Scott

Harvard URL:
Nodular tumor-like lesions or mucoid flesh, arising from tendon sheaths, LIGAMENTS, or JOINT CAPSULE, especially of the hands, wrists, or feet. They are not true cysts as they lack epithelial wall. They are distinguished from SYNOVIAL CYSTS by the lack of communication with a joint cavity or the SYNOVIAL MEMBRANE.

What is non invasive treatment for ganglion cyst?
Non-surgical Ganglion Cyst Treatment
Medication and splinting - If you're experiencing pain, we may recommend an anti-inflammatory medication and splinting to decrease the pain. Aspiration - In some cases, the fluid in the ganglion cyst can be removed through aspiration.
5
cyst on bottom of foot why disappear naturally?
Do cysts go away naturally?
A skin cyst is a fluid-filled lump just underneath the skin. It's common and harmless, and may disappear without treatment.
6
Why did my ganglion cyst disappear?
Ganglion cysts may go away on their own as your body absorbs the fluid over time. Up to 58% of cysts resolve themselves in this way
7
Is it normal for a ganglion cyst to disappear?
Some ganglion cysts go away on their own, while others remain small and cause no problems. Small cysts may just be monitored, requiring no treatment at all. If a larger cyst is causing discomfort, your doctor may recommend anti-inflammatory pain medications and/or wearing a splint.

David, All,
After reading this from Dr Nagarkar (and seeing some Youtube video initial cyst hitting pics to), I had second thoughts about hitting the new cyst on my left foot with a heavy book to DISRUPT it -
per Andy Weil MD's word.
Tweeted:
So I'm going to do some 'disruptive' Iyengar Yoga standing poses in a moment (and more asana than now regularly) to see if I can disrupt this left foot cyst (per Dr. Andy Weil's "disrupt" word), in different ways than with a heavy book. Clinical trials scientifically would be a challenge here -
- so maybe best instead to extend my daily yoga practice. Thoughts about outcomes?
Thank you again, Scott

David, All,
Further, do we or might have the beginnings of the virtual World Univ & Sch Medical research group ... with a first "Cyst on the Bottom of the Foot Disappearance with Yoga Asana Pose Disruption" scientific study emerging? Examine the UPMC Shadyside Presbyterian hospital databases for all MD records of patients' electronic medical records, and with cyst on the bottom of their foot, and of all the people in UPMC's hospital databases in all 3 UPMC states - PA, MD, and WV - and ask MDs in all these hospitals about their possible unreported cysts they've seen, on their patient's foot bottom? Begin to develop studies and hypotheses to test about the possibility of disruption of the bottom of the foot cysts disappearance due to disturbance of the cysts ... and with Yoga asana too, and which poses and from home, and why? Then begin the studies? Reach out to people in the UPMC databases who would be interested in participating in such studies from home - and with Yoga asana, and other approaches too? World University and School would be interested in exploring these possible scientific research studies further.
Cheers, thank you, abolitionally, best regards,
Scott
