Ma, All,

Exploring if the Harvard book store would carry my 1st book "Naked Harbin Ethnography," and 4 books of poetry, and how -

And this
Fascinating instructive history - and re his MOTHER who ran 2 early Harvard bookstores

"Frank was helped and tutored by the store’s five dedicated employees, and he did his best to run the Harvard Square store while his mother ran the two satellite stores."

Let me know what you think. Let's explore opening this flagship MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch bookstore on Walnut Street together ... (Further World University & School academic bookstores on University avenue in Palo Alto and Berkeley OR NOT for some years? ... in addition to MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch bookstores in Chennai India in Tamil Nadu in the Tamil language, and in Mexico City in Spanish, - in addition to in the fairly recently closed Walmart in the Waterworks Mall in Pgh near Fox Chapel?)

Ma, would you like to meet for lunch at Moulin tomorrow Wednesday near the upcoming WUaS bookstore?

Fond regards, Scott

Ma, All,

Greetings everyone! As a follow up:

Adding the book "Naked Harbin Ethnography" to the Harvard bookstore (see entry info below) went smoothly, (but am not sure what this means) - and the World Univ & Sch WUaS bookstore got a new free database airtable out of this, and as a consequence - https://www.airtable.com/about - which WUaS may be able to use to begin our bookstore AI data sources, and especially since Harvard bookstore may use this too. This fascinating and instructive history of the Harvard Bookstore  - https://www.harvardsquare.com/history/historical-sites/harvard-book-store/ - mentioning 2 satellite bookstores that the founder's mother ran ... could certainly be a plan for the flagship WUaS bookstores in Pittsburgh too ... and as they begin to stream their possible invent-the-bookstore-anew with Google Street View with time slider GMaps GEarth with film to 3d Apps and AI Multimedia Augmented Reality hologram physical-digital #RealisticVirtualEarthForLegoRobotics in-stores information technologies around the world.

Ma, shall we explore visiting the Chase bank after eating lunch at Moulin restaurant in Shadyside ? Perhaps we could even meet Shady Side Academy and Harvard alumnus, and jP Morgan Chase Pgh Managing Director Michael Foster after lunch - if he might be there, sinchew I think he has an office there.

In some of this moving beyond the Harvard bookstore innovation thinking -

Just shared this this morning with a co-author of the Harvard Bookstore instructive history, now the executive director of a Historical Society in Taunton, MA, - not that far from Cuttyhunk -

Hi Katie (MacDonald),

Greetings from Penn's Woods, western side. I hope this finds you well. Am writing with some questions about your Harvard Bookstore history.

I found this fascinating and instructive history of the Harvard Bookstore which you had co-authored -

and which is very relevant for an upcoming flagship MIT OCW- centric Wiki World University and School bookstore I'm starting in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Penn's Woods.

Am very interested in developing with this a physical-digital realistic virtual earth for bookstores, (with a realistic virtual earth for history with a realistic virtual earth for archaeology /ADDING ALL archaeological objects in virtual situ)  and think Google Street View with time slider GMaps GEarth with film to 3d Apps and AI Multimedia Augmented Reality rooms.

The Harvard Bookstore is innovating in interesting ways in the web for making books available and the MIT OCW-centric Wiki World University and School bookstore would like to go further, much further.

In your historical society and book experience in the Boston area, what innovations are you looking for? What innovations are you seeing?

(Are you involved in Scottish circles in the Boston area in any way? And have you ever been to Cuttyhunk island in SE Massachusetts? I've grown up there in the summers since I was little).

Thoughts, ideas, questions, suggestions?

Best regards, Scott MacLeod

Scott MacLeod, Scott Gordon Kenneth MacLeod

Academic Press at World University and School, 2016 - Social Science - 327 pages

An anthropology of Harbin Hot Springs, virtual Harbin, the 1960s forward, counterculture, virtual worlds and information technology The book's target audiences are undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, information technology social scientists, Internet studies' researchers, academics interested in the "virtual," and people with a fondness for the 1960s. My book comes into conversation with Tom Boellstorff's "Coming of Age in Second Life: An Anthropologist Explores the Virtually Human" (Princeton 2008), and could be read in academic courses in direct conversation with "Coming of Age in SL." For my next Harbin book, I plan to build a virtual Harbin, ideally in a movie-realistic interactive 3D virtual earth, Google-made, and do actual virtual comparative fieldwork, what I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - http: //scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - as an innovative methodology in Anthropology. I'd like for readers to be able to visit virtual Harbin and have a Harbin experience, in their bathtubs, for example, for the meditative releasing action of the warm waters, - and write ethnographically about this. Naked Harbin is an actual-virtual ethnographic comparison based on extensive field work at actual Harbin Hot Springs, but comes into direct conversation with Boellstorff's "Coming of Age in Second Life," which is based on extensive field work in the 3D interactive virtual world of Second Life. My "Naked Harbin" also examines the significance of making a virtual field site for actual-virtual comparison. After you check in at the gate at Harbin, one resident who has worked there for years often says, "Go play." This ethnography of Harbin Hot Springs in northern California explicitly and theoretically brings together approaches to the comparative study of both the actual and virtual, by developing new methodologies in studying Harbin - as a kind of hippy or Alternative haven from modernity. Through this anthropological book and conceiving of virtual Harbin, you can begin not only to "be there" - to visit Harbin virtually in the text, as it were - but also to revisit the 1960s and its related freedom-seeking movements. Moreover, Harbin Hot Springs' clothing-optionality, spirituality and alternative culture are attractive in mysterious ways. In the way that Margaret Mead's work was theoretical and gained widespread attention at the same time, this book will appeal due to the broad interest in emerging interactive virtual worlds, as well as 1960's informed alternative Harbin's exotic, yet familiar, attractiveness, now mediated digitally. As information technologies and wondrous developments like virtual worlds continue to develop rapidly, I hope to engage you, the reader, further in the conversation about the creativity in countercultural thinking, in virtual worlds, in comparative ethnography, and in the experiences of interacting in this virtual Harbin, even as visitors to actual Harbin enjoy visiting this hot springs' retreat center. - Scott MacLeod http: //www.scottmacleod.com/ActualVirtualHarbinBook.html Academic Press at World University and School http: //worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html

Dear Byron and Cindy, (and Donna?),

Warm greetings from western Pennsylvania (having applied for a 2024-2025 Stanford Law CodeX Fellowship position too, with a housing option on Stanford's campus, but not having heard anything since I applied ... and I continue to be interested in moving the WUaS Academic Medical Center with virtual warm water cure with the WUaS Longevity Genetics' Institute into a newly safe Canyon 94516 possibly in 2024 too)!

I'm writing to wish you a very happy Valentine's Day - Tuesday Feb 14 ... (How is your health scare mending, Byron? ... Am appreciating 10-15 servings of fruits, grains, legumes and vegetables per day ... and think it's very beneficial for my health, and appreciate too that Harvard And MIT professor of Genetics' George Church is a vegan in these regards) ...

And wish you many many more!

(both labels are close to the spirit of Valentine's day :)

Warm regards,
Scott

Dear Byron and Cindy, (and Donna?),

Happy Valentine's Day!

May I invite you all to a contra dance possibly in the autumn or before and possibly at the UU Church up on a hill overlooking the bay in San Rafael as a Valentine's Day celebration?

Byron and Cindy, it would be great to see you more than occasionally, like for carol singing, if and when I move the World Univ & Sch Academic Medical Center with virtual warm water cure with WUaS Longevity Genetics' Institute forward into a newly safe open 670 Ridgecrest Rd. Canyon 94516 this year (~4 miles from Moraga) :)

Friendly regards, best wishes, kindly,
Scott
