Previous: Shoebill: Winding Road Rainbow: Harbin, Wandering & the Poetry of Loving Bliss ~ ~ Paperback – December 14, 2018 by Prof Scott GK MacLeod III (Author), Today I think my favorite poems in this are : Winding Road … and something like poetry came to me / 12 In the night I traveled north to Harbin / 17 The Poetry Commune at Berkeley / 93 * * * I've enjoyed making all the robots in WeDo 2.0 in Lego guide, & using its block programming language, partly because the guide was so well thought out, & structured, & making things, now robots, is enjoyable #RealisticVirtualEarth #RealisticVirtualEarthForLego @WorldUnivAndSch ~ WUaS will likely 'build out' with Scratch with Lego Robotics' WeDo 2.0 & Mindstorms EV3, since they work together - and eventually for WUaS high school and college best STEM CC-4 OCW curriculums, building robots from HOME. Robotics like this are good for learning programming. Going to move WUaS open monthly business meeting to 3rd Saturdays (a big move! after many years of 2nd Saturdays :)

Stanford lecture - Prof Larry Leifer: Dancing with Neurodesign

Dear Prof. Leifer, Prof. Jiang, (Bill and Sime - both of whom I was sitting with in the back - and Greetings!),

Thanks for your far-reaching and fascinating talk "Prof Larry Leifer: Dancing with Neurodesign: Embracing neuroscience instruments to better design human collaboration" ... https://events.stanford.edu/events/823/82343/ last week in Prof. Jiang's course 'ME268 "Robotics, AI and Design of Future Education".' It was exciting to hear re an unfolding actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic project I'm working on especially, and for a number of reasons. I'm writing in email to ask you a few questions (in lieu of post-its in the class). Glad too to learn that you grew up as a surfer in southern California. 

My main question is how might we explore best applying the ideas in your talk to creating a realistic virtual Harbin Hot Springs/ Earth for actual-virtual, physical-digital comparison and STEM resaerch (and for ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy, which I'll explain below), and even with A) a robotics' component (Lego robotics' too), B) A.I., as well as C) future of education aspects? And how best to collaborate with Stanford, and possibly even as an academic course (only in part)? This project would involve creative collaboration on a very large scale, and across languages and countries, and via innovative digital platforms including re Quantum Computing potentially - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/01/british-robin-quantum-computing-and-in.html .  By realistic virtual Harbin / Earth,  am thinking here, conceptually, of Google Streetview with TIME SLIDER / Maps / Earth with Tensorflow re AI and machine learning, and at the cellular and atomic levels too (a ginormous data project), with realistic AVATAR BOTs, both individuals and species  - and for actual-virtual, physical-digital robotics' design innovation too.

Li, I was excited to hear you mention brain headsets re imaging and seeing the physical physical images viewed in pictures of neural processing. Am interested in transmitting this  
- these images' data - into this realistic virtual earth - (think again of Google Streetview with TIME SLIDER  Maps / Earth / TensorFlow / Brain / Translate with avatar bots of individuals and species, and brains, - and eventually for tele-robotic surgery, for example). Am curious further how we might explore this with brain wave headsets such as - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2013/01/flower-coral-brainfingers-hands-free.html and https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2010/11/human-brain-music-brainwave-device-tan.html.

Larry, I was excited too to learn of fNIR technologies that measure the same interval as FMRIs… but that one uses a cap – so, no claustrophobia, - and that fNIR can done in real world (and re that both technologies measure blood-oxygen levels in a specific part of your brain). I was also glad to see your Lego robotics' example re social collaboration. Re an actual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic field work, I was glad too to hear you say "be careful, travel with someone" which is relevant for Harbin and potential student field work. And in a related vein, was glad too to hear you say "Why is collaboration so hard? Because we ask you to find your way, In the woods in the dark, ... In the FUTURE" with much relevance for an actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic project with field work as well. 

Re AI, I was glad to hear Bill Clancey's fascinating talk the week before in Prof. Jiang's course - https://me.stanford.edu/events/me268-william-j-clancey-how-think-critically-about-artificial-intelligence (see too https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/01/ranunculus-stanford-how-to-think.html) - and re exploring anew thinking critically about TensorFlow. In this realistic virtual Harbin Hot Springs' project - and for https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy which is briefly characterized here https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/11/pacific-yew-world-univ-and-sch-medicine.html.

And add some photos or videos if you have them - re a new social science method I'm developing - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - think ethnography as interpretive social science practices, wiki (think fast adding / curating of Wikipedia) and co-building of a virtual world (like in Sansar / Second Life /Open Simulator with avatar bots) but not cartoon-esque, rather realistically.

Eventually students and people around the world will be helping to co-build this realistic virtual earth, probably Google-centric.

Re further collaboration with and within Stanford and related questions about an emergent virtual reality Harbin and realistic virtual VR Earth - and for Medical Degrees at WUaS, as well as online teaching hospitals for online clinical care - Dr Anne Dubin MD, Dr Lauren Schneider at Stanford Medicine in the Center for Digital Health (CDH) are working on related VR for therapy and STEM research, as is Luke Wilson in the Stanford CHARIOT program on VR with a therapeutic focus.

To close, am interested re your "Dancing with Neurodesign: Embracing neuroscience instruments to better design human collaboration" how to study, for example, eliciting loving bliss neurophysiology from the Harbin warm pool, as well as from bath tubs at home (for the relaxation response meditation in warm water - how to measure this?) while visiting virtual Harbin, as STEM research, by wearing brain wave headsets and transmitting data into a realistic virtual Harbin with avatar bots at the cellular and atomic levels to study how loving bliss brain chemistry works - and for developing sophisticated modeling of brains with real time real world data. Larry and Li, what would you suggest to develop this further?
