Developing Young Leaders - World University's Fund for Internships and Fellowships

Swathi in India in a World University (WUaS) Course in a Hangout:

 Dear Universitian friends,

Young people have been at the heart of WUaS’s planning throughout our nearly 8-year history. Their fresh ideas and energy, coupled with World University’s plans to develop young leaders grounded in our f/Friendly, best STEM-centric OpenCourseWare and Wiki (people-to-people teaching online) educational values, in most languages and countries, will make for a powerful combination.

The work of WUaS seeks to be further informed by the efforts of young people. World University would like to begin to bring on board more than 100 interns and fellows who will get the skills and experience they need to be leaders in online education.

To this end, WUaS is introducing the World University Internships’ Fund, and with it we intend to provide a solid financial footing for growing internships and fellowships and increase the number we can offer. In our ongoing efforts to create developing free online Creative Commons’ licensed best STEM-centric OCW accrediting university education and degrees (like CC MIT OCW in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC) and wiki (editable web pages) universal education, it’s essential that we inspire and develop the next generation of leaders, interns and fellows to help grow WUaS. This is where we begin.

         Interns and fellows* will:

·      Energize and inspire high school applicants this autumn 2015 to apply and matriculate at World University and School in 2016.

·      Help accredit WUaS in California and develop the new MediaWiki in WUaS in a myriad of ways and learn valuable community building skills

·      Marshal local resources that can directly help grow free online CC accrediting education worldwide and in all languages and nation states.

(*Interns are generally college students with limited work hours. Fellow are often graduate students or recent college graduates who can work more hours and do a higher level of work).

You may want to make a special donation or increase your annual gift to support all or part of an internship or fellowship. Another option is to invite friends and family to pool their resources and fund a position or to establish a family endowment fund.

Now is the time to train the new generation of leaders. WUaS’s ability to create developing free online Creative Commons’ licensed best STEM-centric OCW accrediting university education and degrees and wiki universal education will be in our interns’ hands. Your gift will be an investment in our future.

We need your help. You can make 501 (c) (3), U.S., federal, tax-deductible contributions directly to World University and School, P.O. Box 442, (86 Ridgecrest Road), Canyon, California, 94516. Alternately, you can give by credit card or PayPal account here at http://worlduniversityandschool.org

Thank you for helping to grow the World University Internships’ Fund.

Sincerely,
Scott MacLeod (Founder and President)

Biological dispersal: Which World University student or students will figure out how to continuously travel world-wide, in multiple nation states, and complete an WUaS undergraduate degree over 4 years and taking about 36 STEM courses mostly MIT OCW and Yale OYC courses?

$

Curious which World University student or students will figure out how to continuously travel world-wide, in multiple nation states, and complete an WUaS undergraduate degree over 4 years and taking about 36 STEM courses mostly MIT OCW and Yale OYC courses. This would make studying far less sedentary than in the classroom, but possibly also make it harder to focus, since traveling takes energy and time and it's enjoyable to look around, meet people and make friends.

And who will combine this with language learning and toward a degree?

How will such students ensure a broadband connection where ever they are. Will such potential students be studying and taking courses mostly from cafes (not very dependable).

What kinds of documents, videos, films et al will emerge?

And how fit and flourishing will they become in the process of studying while traveling?

Will any dance around the world, literally and physically, and complete a degree in combination with this? In dance, creating a multimedia film of this?

And will any figure out how to do it while remaining in wilderness for all four years, and as a focus of study, or under water or even in space? :)

Hi Tom,

Very nice to meet and talk with you a little at Reed Reunions. My question in your Reed College panel on the 1960s was in what ways might one best teach "Counterculture" (of the 1960s/70s) now that that time recedes, and also in terms of actual courses (and syllabi), possibly for credit toward a major.

I enjoyed hearing your methodologically oriented approach to studying family and "counterculture" which paper's reference:

Weisner, T.S. (2001). The American dependency conflict: Continuities and discontinuities in behavior and values of countercultural parents and their children. Ethos 29(3): 271-295.

I'll look to add to the following wiki Subjects at best STEM-centric, wiki and CC World University and School:

Check out too the beginning Anthropology wiki subject page at WUaS which will probably be a major at WUaS based on MIT OCW courses to begin:

http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Anthropology

I've just finished writing an actual / virtual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic manuscript with plans to build a virtual Harbin as ethnographic field site eventually for ethnographic comparison with the actual (hopefully now in a Google-made virtual earth), and am sending it off to another publisher soon. It would great to converse about my book entitled something like "Naked Harbin: Hippies, Warm Pools, Counterculture & Clothing-Optional, Virtual Harbin" over time, as well, given your knowledge about researching and teaching "counterculture" if you will.

Accrediting CC World University and School would like to become the Harvard of the Internet and in all 200 countries' main languages, and wiki schools in all of nearly ~8,000 languages.

Thanks again for your presentation and hope to keep in touch.

Best regards,
Scott

Douglas-fir: WUaS can move to the contract completion process in order to become an official federal work study FWS host site for 2015-2016, Reed College and Philosophy

June 10, 2015

Hi Scott,

Though the Financial Aid office is experiencing a staff transition -- their Director, who makes decisions about FWS eligibility, has retired -- I do believe we have an answer for you. It looks like you can now move to the contract completion process in order to become an official FWS host site for 2015-2016! The Fin. Aid response included the following:

as long as the position is focused on the teaching/education outreach and as long as it continues to be free, open to the public, and serving the community

I will send additional info before week's end regarding the contract process.

Sorry, Scott, I don't have any availability tomorrow (Thu). I'll also be working from home Friday.

I do hope you enjoy your Reunions experience!

All the best,
Merry

June 12, 2015
Hi Merry,

Thank you so much for this good news that WUaS "can now move to the contract completion process in order to become an official FWS host site for 2015-2016!"

I'll be in Portland from Tuesday to Friday next week since I'm giving a talk about WUaS on Saturday at a Quaker FAHE conference near Portland. Let's stay in touch about some of this and perhaps I can come in later next week to chat in person a little further.

Reunions is enjoyable indeed.

All the best,
Scott

Hi Merry,

As a followup to the Financial Aid offices' sentence you sent, the reason WUaS will continue "to be free, open to the public, and serving the community" through time is because WUaS is Creative Commons' licensed (CC), as is Wikipedia's Wikidata (the new-ish database written for Wikipedia's 288 languages), as are especially MIT OpenCourseWare now in 7 languages and Yale OYC. CC WUaS is planning to accredit on CC MIT OCW and CC Yale OYC for online degrees as a service to the world-wide community and in most countries and their main languages. Access to CC MIT OCW in 7 languages, for example, for accreditation is predicated on WUaS remaining free when we engage these resources.

All the best,
Scott

Dear President John Kroger,

Great to talk with you, and I enjoyed learning of your trip to Scotland. After our talk about your hike on the West Highland Way from Glasgow to Fort William, and David Hume, it occurred to me you might enjoy this BBC video about David Hume - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQ2qjVkMj6s - which you'll also find at World University and School's Philosophy wiki Subject page here -
http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Philosophy - with much MIT OCW. What a great trip and I'd love to learn more about your thoughts about this, and also about Hume.

I also just learned today from Merry D in the SEEDS office that World University and School will be able to serve as an online host to Reed College FWS students beginning in September, I'm very glad to say. With this WUaS has moved from becoming an infant to a toddler, and it's also a remarkable development for us in that we'll really be able to begin to develop WUaS online in terms of teaching possibilities. Thank you for this.

Looking forward to staying further in communication about related unfolding developments.

All the best,
Scott

June 15, 2015

Greetings!

Would you like Reed College to pay a Reed student to volunteer/intern with you?

Well then, you’re in luck: Reed’s 2015-2016 off-campus Federal Work Study (FWS) contract process has begun.

This program supports FWS-eligible Reed students -- of the highest financial need -- in their decision to volunteer/intern at FWS-approved nonprofits, public schools, and public agencies. Among other support, Reed College pays said students $11.28/hour for work completed at the aforementioned sites.

There are a few key points of eligibility this Federal program requires:

  • an FWS “job” must be in direct service, education, or project development
  • an FWS "job" may not consist of indirect service (e.g., 100% clerical work is not eligible)
  • an FWS “job” may not include fundraising or advance a political and/or religious agenda
  • the work must be done in a program that is free and open to the public
  • The program must provide a community service designed to improve community residents’ quality of life, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve problems related to their needs

Please review our webpage for more information:

Though we can’t guarantee Reed student involvement at your site, becoming an approved FWS host site increases the likelihood that a student will commit to a volunteer or internship position with you.

If interested, you may please read on and complete the 5-part (annual) contract process by June 29th

Attached you’ll find contract documents as well as checklists to streamline the process.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Sincerely,
Merry D

DEADLINE

The deadline for the 2015-2016 FWS contract process is Monday, June 29th at Noon.
Please note: I’ll be out of the office Tuesday, 6/30, through Monday, 8/3.

REED COLLEGE BACKGROUND CHECK POLICY

You must conduct background checks on any Reed College student who will have any amount of unsupervised contact with a minor before said unsupervised contact occurs.

THE 5 STEP CONTRACT PROCESS

** Please review attached checklists for further details **

Please note: You are welcome to submit more than one volunteer/internship position.
However, it will require duplicating a couple of the steps below.

While the article below is much about China (http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/China), Robots, Jobs, and a main site for a robotics revolution, could, for example, Stanford Law School's international law artificial intelligence somehow override the computer code of Chinese Robots for military uses?

Underwater vents: Accredited Schools' Online - What a great resource, What distinguishes accrediting Creative Commons' licensed CC World University and School from most online schools, All languages' focus and accrediting university degrees in most countries' main languages, WUaS is planning to offer online courses in a) group video with graduate student instructors teaching interactively to MIT OCW faculty in video, b) in interactive virtual worlds (think a hybrid of film-realistic OpenSim / SL / Google Earth), and c) in Google Apps for Education / Google Classroom, to begin

Angela,

What a great resource - http://www.accreditedschoolsonline.org/online-schools-guidebook/. Am I correct in thinking that most of the schools, degrees and educational resources on your Accredited Schools' Online site are in English?

I've added your site to the main "Courses" wiki page at World University and School in the "Select Books, eBooks" section - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Courses. I also just posted it to this Info WorldUniversity G+ Profile page here - https://plus.google.com/+AccreditedschoolsonlineOrg/posts/61wixt4UxM3 .

I'd just like also to share with you what distinguishes accrediting Creative Commons' licensed CC World University and School from most online schools I know of:

a) on the degree side, WUaS plans

- to accredit on CC MIT OCW in 7 languages+ and CC Yale OYC, first in the state of California (BPPE) and via WASC Senior's new incubation policy (ideally WUaS would be incubated by Stanford)); (see, e.g. http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/)

- to offer online CC degrees - at the baccalaureate, Ph.D., law and M.D., as well as I.B. high school levels - and in all countries in their main languages, if possible

- to seek applications beginning with undergraduate students applying this autumn, if possible, where they matriculate online in the autumn of 2016 and graduate potentially in 2020 with a free and MIT-centric accrediting baccalaureate degree

- to engage the Conference Method, which Reed College also uses, as our learning approach in our undergraduate education and across languages (e.g. http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Conference_Method_of_Teaching_and_Learning)

- WUaS is planning to offer online courses in a) group video with graduate student instructors teaching interactively to MIT OCW faculty in video, b) in interactive virtual worlds (think a hybrid of film-realistic OpenSim / SL / Google Earth), and c) in Google Apps for Education / Google Classroom, to begin.

The Creative Commons' licensing of CC WUaS, CC MIT OCW, CC Yale and CC Wikidata mean that WUaS won't be able to charge tuition (e.g. K-12 public schools in the U.S. also don't charge tuition).

b) On the wiki side (not relating to accreditation)

- People can wiki-teach to each other, and planned in all 7,929 languages

- People can come into conversation with, and teach to / learn from, MIT OpenCourseWare, Yale OpenYaleCourses, Khan Academy and any other resources they find at WUaS, or add there

- WUaS would like to facilitate CC wiki schools in all 7,929 languages and inter-lingually in Wikidata (and for language preservation, generation, etc., too)

On both sides, WUaS is seeking if possible to become the Harvard YP / Stanford / Oxbridge of the internet, and with a focus on knowledge generation, and also enjoyment in university learning vis-a-vis the conference method.

And on both sides, WUaS plans to develop our wiki platform with CC MIT OCW and CC Yale OYC with Artificial Intelligence, including an Universal Translator - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/WUaS_Universal_Translator.

(WUaS is planning to move to a new wiki in MediaWiki-Wikidata - which is the CC inter-lingual database written for Wikipedia's 288 languages - soonish and from the current Wikia site, and the existing WUaS Wikia wiki in about 700 pages will become a template; in the future it should be easier for you or anyone to wiki add resources, that generally free and open (OER)-focused.

Among some recent big achievements for startup WUaS, WUaS is glad to learn of the new WASC Senior "Incubation policy" development. See, this and the other recent big achievements for WUaS here  - http://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2015/05/4-big-developments-for-wuas-in-past.html?view=sidebar - as well as WUaS's blog.

Would you also mind adding WUaS - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - as a resource link please on your website? It would really help us reach out to students who are seeking best CC STEM-centric online education, and planned for most countries and in their main languages, - and with the degrees mentioned above.
Thank you.

Thanks, Rory, for your newsletter from Europe ...

Greetings from the SF Bay Area. Looks like you're on the road again and writing further in interesting and varied directions - Cyprus. Writers are esteemed in Germany in an unique way. How was your Stanfords' talk?

I'm submitting my actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' book proposal (it's entitled "Naked Harbin") next to the B.P. in NY, which specializes in sociocultural Anthropology. Its founder and director knows UC Berkeley Professor Emeritus of Tourism Studies N.G., whom I know. It would be great to have it out by xmas, but it may be 2016 before it's published. We'll see.

In what European bookstores/venues might I do readings and signings - and at what time of year would be best? The book's target audiences are undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, information technology social scientists and academics interested in the "virtual," and people with a fondness for the 1960s, and my book comes into conversation with Tom Boellstorff's "Coming of Age in Second Life: An Anthropologist Explores the Virtually Human" (Princeton 2008), and could be read in academic courses in direct conversation with "Coming of Age in SL." For my next Harbin book, I hope to build a virtual Harbin ideally in a movie realistic 3D virtual earth, Google-made, and do actual virtual comparative fieldwork, what I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - as an innovative methodology in Anthropology. I'd like for folks to be able to visit virtual Harbin and have a Harbin experience ... in their bathtubs for the releasing action of the warm waters - and write ethnographically about this.

Looks like you know a lot about Germany, Transnistria and Cyprus, among other countries, and could help inform and guide some of these World University and Schools - see the main Nation States' WUaS - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Nation_States. Here, for example, is the very beginning of accrediting Creative Commons' licensed (and CC MIT OCW-centric in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC centric) Canada World University and School - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Canada - but not yet in the French language WUaS - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/French_language - for example, or in other Canadian languages. (WUaS is planned in All languages as wiki schools). WUaS hopes also to become the Stanford / Harvard of the internet and in accrediting in all countries' main languages.

Thanks for your update and happy writing travels!

Regards, Scott

It's bag-packing time again ... and this time without the need for the Writer Safeguard Mobile Protection Unit (as snapped in Pondicherry).

This month's news is that Nick Danziger and I have been commissioned to create a book about some of the men and women who went missing in Cyprus during the tragic events of 1963-64 and 1974. As with our ICRC 'Missing Lives' project on the Balkans, this new book aims to support reconciliation between communities. We hope it may help in some small way to heal old wounds and to rebuild trust between the islanders.

Before I set off to Cyprus, I'd be thrilled if some of you would join me in London where I'll be speaking about Berlin – and launching the handsome paperback edition of 'Berlin: Imagine a City'– at Stanfords Covent Garden on Thursday 25th June (at 6:30pm at 12-14 Long Acre, WC2). If you can't make it tomorrow, I'll be talking about the book later in the year at the Cheltenham Literature Festival on Saturday 10th October.

If it's corrupt Russian satellite non-states and ersatz-Soviet soldiers saluting the hammer and sickle that tickle your fancy, then please come to the Edinburgh Book Festival for my talk on 'Back in the USSR: Heroic Adventures in Transnistria' on Thursday 20th August.

Finally, as some of you know, Nick and I tutor a small and intensive annual Masterclass in Monaco. This year 'Telling Tales: The Art of Creating Stories in Images and Words' will be held from 28th September to 2nd October, and one place is still available on the course.  If you are interested please let me know and I'll send further details.  For those of you who have participated before, this year we will tailor the week with more 'specialisation' days – hence loads of one-to-one sessions for writers with me, and photographers with Nick – as well as talking through the next steps: structure, presentation, publishing, crowd-funding, print editions and beyond.

I hope to see you in one or more of these places, or indeed in Cyprus on one or other side of the Green Line (maybe I should ring Writer Safeguard after all...).

yours ever,

Rory

Dear Karen,

I was very inspired by your Harvard talk "Faculty Speaker Karen Brennan: HGSE Convocation 2015" here -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPGAplELF3Q - and shared it in a variety of social media with ...

"Brilliant, Inspiring, Virtuosic - Faculty Speaker Karen Brennan: HGSE Convocation 2015 https://youtu.be/dPGAplELF3Q @Harvard Added to "Inspiration_in_learning_and_teaching"http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Inspiration_in_learning_and_teaching as well as "Ph.D.s," Media Lab at WUaS" and "Creativity" and may explore adding to "Teaching" ... All these wiki Subjects are planned in many, many languages!" ....

Thank you, Karen.

I also added your video talk to a startup Creative Commons' licensed (CC) online accrediting University I'm developing in the following wiki Subject pages (for open people-to-people teaching and learning):

Inspiration_in_learning_and_teaching -

Ph.D._Degrees_at_World_University_and_School -

Creativity -

all of which will be in large languages, and with courses in them, - and, importantly, planning to accredit in many countries' main languages.

World University and School, which is like CC Wikipedia (now in 288 languages) with best STEM-centric OpenCourseWare (e.g. CC MIT OCW now in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC), and is planning online accrediting university and high school degrees in most countries' main languages, and wiki schools in all 7,929+ languages.

Are you teaching any edX or other online free courses this autumn that I might participate in, by any chance?

This autumn, I'm teaching the free "Information Technology, the Network Society and the Global University" on Harvard's virtual island in SL, in Google Hangouts and newly in Google Classroom, if you know of people who might be interested -

"Information Technology, the Network Society, and the Global University" at WUaS Introduction

Here are some recent small/big successes for WUaS - http://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2015/05/4-big-developments-for-wuas-in-past.html?view=sidebar - and our blog, - and here, too, is my personal blog with much about WUaS - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/ - in the "global university" label.

World University is seeking our first high school applicants this autumn to matriculate online in autumn 2016 for free (since CC) and MIT OCW-centric degrees, first in English, and graduating potentially in 2020, accrediting first with WASC senior and BPPE here in California.

In what ways might we best communicate further about some of our shared creativity-in-education interests?

Thank you again for the inspiration.

All the best,
Scott

Dear Paul Raja Rao,

Thank you for your email, and from BIRDS - www.birdsorg.net - and mother India!

I hope WUaS can help make high school, university and even open people-to-people teaching WIKI (editable web pages) learning very enjoyable, as well as relevant to knowledge-oriented job generation - in terms of drop out rates, and especially in India.

In terms of inspiring education - which may help keep students involved in learning for many years (as well as relevance) - please see this brilliant and virtuosic Harvard Professor Karen Brennan's commencement talk from May here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2015/06/migratory-woodland-caribou-inspired-by.html - in my blog post from yesterday (which will also give you other insights into how WUaS works). Karen has also been involved in the teaching programming with the drag and drop MIT Scratch computer language. World University hopes also to be in large languages in India, and accredit even an online India Law School at WUaS - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/India_Law_School_at_WUaS .

World University is seeking our first undergraduate college students to apply this autumn, and matriculate online in autumn 2016, graduating in 2020 potentially -
http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/The_College_at_World_University_and_School - with free (since CC) and MIT-centric degrees. Please invite high school students you know of to add their names to the sign up list here - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - and check out MIT Prof Anant Agarwal's video on this page too. He's originally from India and has degrees from MIT, and is now a professor there, and president of edX.

What languages again do you speak besides English, Paul? Hindi, Kanada?, Telegu? And ?

Very nice to meet you at the Presbytery meeting in Portland, Oregon.

Namaste,
Scott

Dear Steve,

It was wonderful to meet you just a week ago almost to the hour at the Hillsdale Presbyterian Church near Portland, Oregon, on Friday, June 19 - and especially with Carl Thatcher (thank you, Carl). It was great to hear about your trip to India and about BIRDS as well. Thank you for the success of Paul Raja Rao's BIRDS projects, and especially in educating over 600 students, for example.

I'd like to share a little about World University and School -
http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - with you, and its planned online Creative Commons' licensed degrees - see the 5 planned degrees here in Admissions -
http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/ - for planning purposes, for example.

At the same time WUaS seeks to offer wiki (editable web pages) schools for open teaching and learning in all 7,929 languages. Sal Khan, who went to MIT for 2 degrees, taught online to his 11 old niece about unit conversion in this way, for example, and then went on to build Khan Academy itself online, but without degrees. Perhaps some of BIRDS students will come both to teach in this way at Wiki WUaS also also to study for free degrees at CC World University - and to/in all of India and beyond.

And as an example of some open wiki subjects, which will grow, World University also has a beginning India World University and School (not yet in any other languages in India besides English) - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/India - as well as an Organic Agriculture wiki subject/school - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Organic_Agriculture - which will grow in open teaching, courses, and in different languages. (WUaS is also changing wiki sites eventually).

WUaS is very much a Quaker/Friendly leading to provide free highest quality education online, and with best STEM-centric degrees, to people who need it and can benefit from it, and as a service.

In what ways can World University and your church in Grants Pass, as well as the Presbytery of the Cascades itself, possibly best explore further a pilot degree program in the BIRDS school and computer lab in India, or other ways of BIRDS subscribing to WUaS? Do you know of other Presbyterian education and service endeavors?

Could Carl (or I) possibly please talk further about this with you in person?

It was wonderful to meet you and looking forward to exploring this online free and MIT OCW-centric education for free degrees further in many ways.

Yours with Gratitude,
Scott

Hi Carl,

Thanks. Progresa also came to San Francisco Friends' Meeting in 2012.

How best for WUaS to collaborate and engage with them?

Please invite high schoolers to sign up here -

Testimonial

World University provides an ambitious and much-needed bridge to affordable higher education!

With online coursework through WUaS in many of the world's languages, students who wouldn't be able to afford accredited, degree-oriented courses can now aspire to this game-changing qualification.  In India, Jan.-Feb. 2015, in two different locations and schools, I saw for myself the need and hunger ambitious secondary students there have for accessibility to high-quality education with entry-level degree possibilities waiting for them on completion.  For a modest and affordable cost they are enabled to get western accreditation for their work and outlay, which promises much greater opportunities than previously for their advancement, particularly in caste-stratified Indian society!  The value of this educational and economic bridge for low-income students in third-world countries is immense! World University and School is offering a missing link toward development to all the world's struggling peoples!

Dear Bon (and Merry),

Greetings. I just posted 3 new Reed College federal work study (FWS) volunteer/intern jobs in Symplicity yesterday (to be finalized in August) for the new host startup World University and School, of which I'm the founder, president and current developer, for 2015-2016, and Merry can't see them. Simplicity says these job postings are currently drafts and are scheduled to be posted visibly between 8/31 and 9/30/15. They are

Managing Academic Tutor (ID 28068) -

Academic Tutor - Sciences, STEM & Computer Science (ID 28075) -

Academic Tutor - Humanities, Languages, Social Sciences (ID 28077)
These new jobs are listed at this login - (... @worlduniversityandschool.org ... ).

Could you possibly help Merry see these, as well as other possible Reedie interns see these who might be interested in planning now for 2015-2016 FWS opportunities - and with these great and creative WUaS academic internship possibilities?

Also who has access to seeing these Symplicity listings once they're public? Could any Reed alumnus/ae with a Reed Iris account see them, for example? How would, for example, Sandesh A. who just graduated from Reed in June in Physics see these listings, now or in August? Merry, he and I all met together during Reunions a few weeks ago (and Sandesh also attended my Paideia workshop in January). Or could Gantt who was at Reed with me in the early 1980s, for example? Also, is it possible to display these job postings from Symplicity to non-Reedies as VOLUNTEER opportunities before mid-August as well? (If these work out the next 2 FWS job postings will be academic tutor positions "on the teaching side" for "Countries" and "Music" I think).

Merry will be away from Reed until around August 3rd, but I'd love to get this sorted out this week if possible, please.

These will be the very first jobs that World University and School creates, if this works out, and WUaS would like to become a significant academic job generator and online in many languages!

Thank you (and nice to meet you here).
All the best,
Scott '85

"in what ways could such Commons' photos/images with millions of coordinates, related video resources, and other related Wikipedia items be incorporated into a 3D film-realistic interactive wiki-informed virtual world - think Google Earth with OpenSim, Second Life, Illustris + - and in a way that's wiki-buildable, and could be used even for STEM-research (e.g. mapping in specific photos and videos from the various archaeological digs at Troy), and decade-by-decade to begin, even, for a kind of historical reference time frame virtual-world mapping?" ...

and especially first in the PUBLIC libraries in all countries.

Will every book in every language eventually get a Wikidata Q-item reference with coordinates and be includable in such a wiki virtual earth?

Best,

Info (Scott)

Could every book in every language eventually get a Wikidata Q-item reference with coordinates and be includable in such a wiki virtual earth and become a significant basis of an universal translator from these stacks in a virtual earth?
