And the internet of things is "the interconnection via the Internet of computing devices embedded in everyday objects, enabling them to send and receive data." Combine the IoT with the blockchain aka distributed ledger technology. ""Distributed Ledger Technology," is about to change all aspects of digital business and according to some such as Don Tapscott, blockchain is a bigger deal than the Internet. (Just met two new friends from near Bangalore yesterday evening at a Meetup on Accessibility in Palo Alto, and their first language is Kannada where property/real estate legal documents are written in Kannada). Dear Petr and David,

Thanks for your fascinating talk yesterday at Stanford - http://events.stanford.edu/events/736/73693/.

CC wiki and MIT OCW-centric in 5 languages' World University and School would like to create / map a realistic virtual earth/universe for STEM research and as a classroom - and at the street view level, as well as at the atomic and cellular levels. 

While there are many possible approaches to A.I., machine learning, machine translation and STEM and the digital humanities' mapping here, CONCEPTUALLY the approach I alluded to in my question has to do with a film/video CONVERSION APPLICATION/PROGRAM into 3D interactive virtual world with avatar bots (for further AI coding, design, engineering and avatar/actual robotics too) and in a realistic virtual earth, conceptually like GoogleStreetview with TIME SLIDER/Maps/Earth/ and which would also be Google Brain-centric, for example, for research at the cellular and atomic levels). Visit the Harbin Hot Springs' gate here in Google Streetview/Maps - https://twitter.com/HarbinBook/ (in the top left) - and "walk" down the road 4 miles to Middletown, CA, as a start. (I've added one of the photos here to the left, so in a sense, this Google Streetview / Earth is wiki). 

A new method I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy would allow scholars and students in any library or museum in the world to photograph or video an old map, or an ancient road, or a developing archaeological dig, or an underwater excavation of a ship or for historic atmospheric conditions, and add this to the whole realistic virtual earth going back 4.5 billion years. With regards to avatar bots in such a realistic virtual earth walking on the terrain of your amazing mapping projects: In these archaeological video games -

Reminds me of Grandpa (Sandy Brown) re somehow fascinating and abstract play problem solving math-wise ... full house ... lots of consciousness in reflecting and making clear his thinking in words /language. He's great, possibly a kind of math / computer science genius (what does this word mean, anyway), and he's an active Lutheran, soon to turn 80 years' old - and good, of which I'm appreciative. He generates great energy.

Nelson, Hongmei, Stephane, Amir, Xiangchun and All, 

Thurot and Thurot's 1983 paper provided a key interpretation for creating a tourism studies' reading of the internet / information age for me as a condition informing tourism, and emerging from my reading of Dean's "The Tourist" re modernity (and Urry's reading of post-modernity re tourism). Each author's broad theorizing (MacCannell, Urry, Thurot and Thurot, and MacLeod) could also probably inform an interpretation of "house-planting" in Baisha, Lijiang, China, as well, in a related vein, and around the "culture" question - how does this word translate anthropologically meaning-wise into Chinese I wonder? ... beyond imaginary and fantasy (and aside from the political economics' questions your talk addressed as I heard it).

Chapters 1–2 in Invitations to Love: Literacy, Love Letters, and Social Change in Nepal. University of Michigan Press, 2001. ISBN: 9780472067848 - (which is accessible for free to borrow in limited copies from the Open Library - https://openlibrary.org/works/OL8246563W/Invitations_to_Love )

It would be interesting to read Ahearn's "Invitations to Love: Literacy, Love Letters, and Social Change in Nepal" from a tourism studies' perspective - and espeically from Chinese, French and Egyptian / Arabic perspectives too . 

But books don't get translated easily between languages - so it isn't possible to read Ahearn's "Invitations to Love: Literacy, Love Letters, and Social Change in Nepal" in Chinese, French and Arabic, for example.

Stanford (Kristian?) would play a role in this too - hopefully with free Stanford Medicine and Stanford Law Creative Commons' OpenCourseWare for free online university law and medicine degrees to students in all official languages in India and indeed in all ~200 countries official languages (I'm scheduled again to meet with a head of the Stanford Medical School in these regards this Thursday).

How might we communicate about this further? Do you think Prakat could find Kannada language lawyers for the WUaS law school in Kannada language to teach Property contracts in Google Docs as smart contracts online with a Cryptocurrency with blockchain as this develops, potentially into an universal currency via a Universal Basic Income?

Heard a great talk at Stanford Medicine Grand Rounds on Wednesday:

While the talk focused on MD clinicians (and World University and School's medical schools with online teaching hospitals in all ~200 countries' official/main languages may be able to help with this too), Paul Wise MD also focused on the causes of war.

I asked afterward how a basic universal income might help {Quaker-wise} take away the causes of war, and Paul said that the issue in the largest refugee camp in the world (with about 300,000 people living there for more than 20 years) - and where there's cash assistance available from the U.N. or similar - was that the country didn't want the refugees to assimilate ... so a basic income might not work here, in protecting civilians from war ...

Harbin Waters’ Cosmic Consciousness



One fig leaf dropped, 

golden in the warm pool, 

right in front of me – plop.


Meditating in lotus pose 

in warm water I was, and then 

drops another golden, fig leaf, 

to my right, but a little browner, 


from green~golden fig trees above. 

Easing inwardly myself near the stairs, 

she who is naked beautiful walks in, 


with lovely face, bosom, and hair, 

finding ease, in the warmth. 

She looks at me – connection. 

In the hot pool, next door, 

finding heated~water, immersive openings,  

she comes in, once standing in 


water near her long-haired, male friend. 

Are they connected?

She is beautiful in so many ways, 


proportional, nude, serene in being, 

connectable – but with friend, probably, 

a traveling companion, it seems. 


Back in the warm pool, 

I emerge heading for the hot pool again, 

and get a little dizzy, biologically, 


and, aware, observe how this 

could be similar to a biological or 

chemical door of perception opening


to Cosmic Consciousness, 

in another context. 

But what is the code 


to open these doors, neurophysiologically – 

and for all kinds of brain and bodymind

freedoms and transformations, 


naturally, but made real 

with entheogens and 

Mozart and Raga and the Grateful Dead


as well as India, Hindu and Harbin cultures?

How to open the doors, 

warm pools-wise, 


to eliciting loving bliss, and
to cosmic consciousness?

Hugh and Susan and All,

I regret to inform you that I will not make it back to Pittsburgh for this evening's last Scottish Country Dance on Mt. Washington - http://www.pittsburghscottishcountrydance.org/Calendar.html. I called Susan on Saturday thinking I might change my flight from Sunday, December 24th, to Sunday, December 17th,  if and only if, by some stroke of good fortune, she were going to be at this Scottish Country dance on Mt Washington on this evening of December 18th, but alas, I fear this may not be the case. Hi Laine, Rasul, and Cynefin (Harbin literary magazine), 

I enjoyed the wordshop on Sunday, especially your receptive focus on both collaborative, and our own, poetry writing, and sharing of this by reading it aloud. I also enjoyed Sunday's Fibonacci-inspired poem writing structure. Great and thanks! (We had 3 opportunities to write Fibonacci-informed poems each (some wrote two or three each writing time), with this number of syllables in each line 0-1-1-3-5-8, then 0-1-1-3-5-8-13, then 0-1-1-3-5-8-13-21).

I'm attaching both the three poems I wrote that day, as one poem called "Light Float Sit," as well as 12 Haiku-ish poems, "Blackberries: Harbin Haiku-ish" (which I also submitted by email to a Harbin poetry contest around a year ago), all as submissions to Cynefin. 

All of these are Harbin and water-influenced poems. :) 

Harbin inspires much of my more than 100 poems here ~ 

I also enjoyed hearing your creations too.

Seems like Cynefin ('Cynefin' is a Welsh word meaning "profound connection to the land," I've read) is facilitating a Harbin school of poetry thanks to you! :)

A delight it is to publish this book of poetry, of haiku-ish - Haiku~ish and Other, Loving, Hippy, Harbin Poetry - in the context of modernity and the information age.


Haiku-ishare informed by the haiku poetry form, are 17 syllables-plus, are often three lines, where nature is a focus, and can be inwardly implosive or enlightening (https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2014/03/spiral-stars-wanting-to-explore-writing.html). What’s also unique about this volume of poetry is the addition of a blog link with every poem, where in these blog posts you will also find photographs.


The word “other” in the title of this book of haiku-ish builds upon the poetry I’ve included in my recently published actual-virtual anthropological “Naked Harbin Ethnography: Hippies, Warm Pools, Counterculture, Clothing-Optionality and Virtual Harbin” book (Academic Press at World University and School 2016 ~ http://bit.ly/HarbinBook); visit the beginnings of a realistic virtual Harbin Hot Springs in Street View here ~ http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg (accessible from https://twitter.com/HarbinBook) ~ to be inspired to write your own haiku-ish, for example. The word "other" here also refers to the poetry in this volume not in the following themes. "Other" refers too to this poetry being different.  

The word “loving” in the title refers to a focus on positive generative caring in this book of poetry. In dedicating this, my second book, to my mother again, loving here also refers to my mother’s remarkable loving and caring qualities, and the warmth and radiance thereof. My last poem in this book is about this.


“Hippies” refer to the folks who find freedom in living in a kind of alternative way of life, as well as their giving rise to counterculture, which here emerges from “the freedom-oriented, social movements that emerged in the 1960s and early 1970s,” further giving rise to new forms of culture (Naked Harbin Ethnography 2016 : 24).


“Harbin” here refers to Harbin Hot Springs in northern California, a clothing-optional hippy-to-the-hot-springs’ New Age alternative retreat center with natural geo-thermally heated waters, as well as to the emergence of a realistic virtual Harbin online for visiting Harbin as well in new ways.


“Poetry” here refers to a “special intensity [which] is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm,” to “a quality of beauty and intensity of emotion regarded as characteristic of poems,” and to “something regarded as comparable to poetry in its beauty” (Apple Dictionary).


I hope you, the reader, will find a generative freedom of bodymind, of neurophysiology, in your reading of these haiku-ish.
