Brainstorming-wise, moving Dick Bolles'"What Color Is Your Parachute: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters & Career-Changers" book (50th edition? - http://www.jobhuntersbible.com/ - see these current 10 commandments - http://www.parachutebook.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/parachute-1200x1200-1.jpg) into machine learning / AI / a great computer program could be so helpful to so many! It's both the book's focus on methodology, i.e. what you've enjoyed doing/working on in the past, with a kind of personal, playful-even, and while not hand holding, yet an engaged conversation approach, that makes the book stellar. It also provides a beginning METHODOLOGY, as I recall, for potentially even finding or creating a JOB or CAREER you really love - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Finding_/_creating_a_job_you_really_love (the only such methodology I know of).
First written in 1970, and published in 1972 by the innovative Ten Speed Press in Berkeley, California ... it seems to me to embody a kind of people-centric, reader-has-agency, freedom-for-the-people approach to job seeking, and re finance questions especially - and building on human networking thinking!

Hi Amy,
(Reed College)
(Reed College)
I blogged a little about this here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot. com/2019/09/andes-reed- college-thank-you-for-your. html?m=0 - brainstorming-wise, and with an impressive British interview of Richard Dawkins about his new book by Alex @CosmicSkeptic, an atheist studying theology at Oxford; my appreciation for smart interviews grows, culturally informed. This interview by Alex O'Connor of Dawkins could even inform Alex's career significantly for the better. They're both kind of philosophers, interestingly.
I also think Hugh Porter's interview of President Audrey Bilger is a good example of an interview style that would work for Reedie viewers, for example - https://youtu.be/FjxSqc2CCQg.
With regards to what we talked about after the 2nd Reed College FAR alumni careers's meeting on 14 September - ie brainstorming-wise moving Dick Bolles'"What Color Is Your Parachute: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters & Career-Changers" book (50th edition? - http://www.jobhuntersbible. com/ - see these current 10 commandments - http://www.parachutebook. com/wp-content/uploads/2015/ 08/parachute-1200x1200-1.jpg) into machine learning / AI / a great computer program, it's both the book's focus on methodology what you've enjoyed doing / working on in the past with a kind of personal, playful-even, and while not hand holding, yet an engaged conversation approach that makes the book stellar. It also provides a beginning METHODOLOGY, as I recall, for potentially even finding creating you really love - https://wiki. worlduniversityandschool.org/ wiki/Finding_/_creating_a_job_ you_really_love.
Am curious too how such a book - "What Color ... ?" - might be focused in a machine learning program - innovation-wise - for Reedie graduates - both those going on for Ph.D.s and those taking other career paths? But even as, brainstorming-wise, an approach to help Reedies with careers without turning "What Color ... " into a computer program conceptually - and perhaps in conjunction with World Univ & Sch - this book could help advance Reed through developing a methodologically sound approach to careers for Reedies (building on what exists already at Reed for this).
Given a kind of exploration of Reed-World Univ & Sch possible collaborations for advancing Reed (re FAR) here, I wonder too about how all the wiki subjects I shared with you recently could be turned into Reedie opportunities to begin growing their careers. And how, if WUaS were to begin to get funding to grow, how such a project manager at Reed re World Univ & Sch might even emerge? I'd be curious about your thoughts in these regards as well?
Greetings to Audrey and Hugh as well.
Best regards, Scott

to Larry Viehland
Dear Larry,
Am wondering even if Amy Hesse (Biology '03) at Reed College, who emailed me Wednesday invited me to further Reed FAR engagement (Forum for Advancing Reed), could become a kind of Project Manager at World University and School at Reed.
Given a kind of exploration of Reed-World Univ & Sch possible collaborations for advancing Reed (re FAR) here, I wonder too about how all the wiki subjects I shared with her recently - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/andes-reed-college-thank-you-for-your.html and https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/parachute-plant-ceropegia-methodology.html - could be turned into Reedie opportunities to begin growing their careers. And how, if WUaS were to begin to get funding to grow, how would Amy as such a project manager at Reed re World Univ & Sch grow?
I'd be curious about your thoughts in these regards as well? How would the quid pro quo or this for that work out in the community of Reed, and newly Reed and WUaS? (By way of comparison, how does the 'this for that' work out within MIT circles - and say perhaps with Harvard, or possibly edX - or other online startup educational accrediting schools ?)
Sincerely, Scott

In wondering about this last night, and re highest achieving colleges, as well as Quaker colleges, the only one on this above list that crossed my mind was the University of Washington. I wonder about Earlham College as being a great place to work some decades ago especially. And it's interesting to me that the words 'community' and 'Christian' re colleges come up so much in this list.
Why are not more highest achieving colleges on this list I wonder?

Am curious too how not only to create 2.2 million careers at World Univ & Sch, but also how this might emerge for Reedies and others on the virtual / digital side in a realistic virtual Harbin / realistic virtual earth, in addition to online free-to-students' degrees, and also staff positions at World University and School, for example. Thinking ~200 countries' main languages, and 7111 known living languages as wiki schools for open teaching and learning.
